Saw this thread bump and knew what it was going to mean… so really didn’t want to open it.

Rest well, El Tel. One of a kind. Loved the guy.

Really sad news. Did not realise that he had been suffering in recent years. 91 FA Cup and obviously Euro 96 were great moments. RIP El Tel

Really sad news. Great memories of him as our manager when I started supporting us as a kid. A great manager, tactical genius and did England proud in Euro 96.

Also remember playing the board game "Terry Venables invites you to be the Football manager" a lot as a kid.

Very sad news. Great manager, great memories (especially 91), and Euro 96 as one of the best England managers in the last 60 years. RIP

Part of the 1967 FA Cup winning team, and won it again in 1991 as our manager. Thanks Terry you made us smile. RIP.

Rest in peace Tel.

A triffic win today would be a fitting tribute.

Great man. Footballer, Manager, TV writer (Hazell) and part time nightclub crooner. Talented bloke and someone you'd love to have had a pint or 2 with.

Sad news indeed.

I met Terry on my ninth birthday when my dad, via a friend, managed to wangle an invitation to watch the first team train at the old Whitewebbs club. I went dressed in my brand new full Holsten kit. He came over for a little chat during the lunch break and I reckoned he'd be impressed with my keepy-uppy skills. He offered some encouraging words and said he hopes I enjoy my day. I did, and I still have the VHS.

RIP Tel.

RIP Terry.

One of my most cherished memories was meeting him in the summer of 96 after the Euros. He was guest editor that month for FourFourTwo magazine. He walked into the FourFourTwo office's and everyone stood up and gave him a round of applause. He spent an hour chatting to everyone and was utterly charming.
