I'm 39 so that Venables team was the earliest memories I had as a fan. The most exciting time as a fan for a long time that followed. For me his team is the benchmark for what followed since. RIP to a legend! His was the finest Christmas tree I've ever seen.

He sure got vilified in the press for even daring to try out the Christmas tree in an England friendly. Imagine that. Experimenting in a friendly. He sure made them eat their words when using to devastating effect in Euro 96. The national team is still massively missing a manager like this.

I'm 45 and have such fond memories of Venables and his sides. In many ways he was similar to Postecoglou in how brave, tscicallt progressive and attacking he was as a manager. RIP, Terry, and thanks for all the fish.

I've supported spurs since 69/70 but it wasn't until I moved to Edmonton in 1987 that I first went to White Hart Lane. That game was against Aston Villa and the manager was Terry Venables.

Today I'm here for my first league game of the season. Against Aston villa. Seems right.

I know they are doing a minutes applause today, but how special would it be if the crowd started to sing 3 Lions, imagine 62k fans all signing that together for him.
Brilliant manager and the memories he gave me as a 13 year old huge football fan at Euro 96 will always be there.
RIP TV.

I felt he deserved to have achieved even more despite his significant achievements. Retired from the game far too early. The game missed his brilliant technical thinking. R.I.P.

This one has hit me hard, his charisma was enormous and he was a people's man, he made England fun for a change.

RIP El Tel.

Such sad news. Had the pleasure of meeting him when we both lived in same apartment building in Sydney when he was Australian coach. Lovely man. RIP.

The 1st manager I remember at Spurs. I was too young to remember his predecessors.

To this day the 1991 FA Cup win is my favourite Spurs fan moment. The Gazza free kick in the semis and the comeback in the final was just great.

RIP El Tel.

So sad. Never understood why he's rarely spoken of in the pantheon of great English coaches, and I was always sad that someone with so much knowledge and natural charisma was rarely seen on TV for the last 2 decades. On top of everything he did a great cover of If I Can Dream and had one of the best nicknames in sport! Goodnight El Tel. You are what Spurs are all about.

Sad to hear this news. Have some great memories of his time with us and England. Also how he helped save the club when we were close to going under.

RIP TV.

RIP Terry. That Spurs side he had was genuinely one of the most entertaining sides to watch in my lifetime, as well as the England side In Euro 96.
When Sugar got rid, i genuinely thought about stop caring about Spurs (admit that only lasted until the next game though lol)
The man was a leader, maverick and master tactician all rolled in to one, and its Englands loss that he only did one major tournament, as we would have won something i am sure, if he had stayed on.
