Anyone else having the prematch dreams already? Had them the last two nights now. Last night's Arsenal drew 0-0 but for some reason they were playing West Brom. We beat Sunderland 1-0 and then I hung out with Bale in the team bus and he was eating bananas.

Don't wanna know what Freud would say.

i woke up at 4am this morning thinking the match had already been played. After 30 mins of trying to find the result (half asleep laptop) i realised it was friday.

Pretty sad when spurs starts pushing Emma Watson out of my dreams.

Completely agree

I think if we are winning our game and word spreads around SJP, then the Newcastle fans will savour the chance to have a big impact on how the season ends and will urge their team on. Once the crowd at SJP gets up, its likely the players will respond in some way, especially now they are playing without any pressure.

If Arsenal start brightly and get an early lead however, I can see Newcastle players and fans just going through the motions and not being fussed.

We have to start the whole ripple effect of putting Arsenal under pressure and making Newcastle feel they have something to play for but doing our bit as effectively as possible.

yep plus if news gets out about an early goal from us then the toon fans will be led on by the fact that we're playing sunderland and relegating them to the lowest possible position and they could finish as high as 10th apparently

lady luck has to shine our way, just once.

We will be in the Champions League. Results will go our way sunday, and there will be celebrations all through the night on the seven sisters road.

The fact that Bale has a rumoured new contract of £170k a week means that we are definitely getting Champions League money next season to help pay for it.

I think Levy has sent his chefs up to Arsenal's Newcastle hotel...

if they have to win lets hope they win comfortably, 2 or 3 nil.

It would be too cruel for them to win it with seconds remaining and an offside goal, or for sunderland to equalise in stoppage time.

Sorry chaps. Newcastle are shit, and Sunderland are shit. Arsenal will win their game comfortably, and we will labor to victory in ours. No surprises, no turn ups. Just boring, numbing, inevitability.

Sorry.

At least we're in with a shout on the final day and at least we've got home advantage while the gooners go away

They've got the slightly harder game though they have the advantage of only needing to match our result while we need favours

We've got an outside chance even though Arsenal are favourites but at least we have a chance

If we lose we need to lobby UEFA to ensure they remain consistent. Just as last year Chelsea should not be denied the opportunity to defend their title. They should therefore be awarded our Europa League place and we'll just have to settle for the Champions League.

Harsh for it to happen 2 years on the trot, but thems the breaks.

And the fourth went in in the sixth minute of four minutes of injury time and went in off Cheszney's face.
But first ricocheted between his bastard face and the post about 20 times in the space of 2 second before it went in...leaving him unconscious.

Andre Villas-Boas expects Alan Pardew’s Newcastle to be “extremely competitive” against Arsenal on Sunday, but he says he would not blame the Magpies boss for fielding a weakened side.

Tottenham and Arsenal are vying for the final Champions League spot as the Premier League reaches its climax this weekend, with the Lilywhites trailing their north London rivals by one point.
Spurs host Sunderland at White Hart Lane, while Arsenal travel to Newcastle, and Tottenham need a favour from the Magpies.

Worryingly for Spurs fans, Pardew said at the weekend that, having already secured survival, he wouldn’t care if Arsenal beat his team 4-0.

Villas-Boas says he has every faith in Newcastle and their manager, and he believes the lack of pressure on their shoulders could help them to raise their game against Arsene Wenger’s outfit, but he concedes he wouldn’t criticise Pardew for giving some of his squad players a run-out.

“I think it [Pardew’s comments] was a little bit blown out of proportion,” said Spurs’ head coach. “First I wouldn’t get involved with other managers’ choices and decisions - he can do whatever he wants.

“What we expect is always a Newcastle side which is extremely competitive, and in their last game of the season anything can happen. I would expect them to do their job properly. Obviously their objectives have been achieved but everyone wants to finish the season on a high.

“Newcastle have gone from a position where the pressure was immense to a position of comfort. You know how big the club is so it can serve as a relief for the players, and they will be able to express themselves in a different way.

“Do I expect them to play their strongest team against Arsenal? It’s very difficult. When I had won the title with Porto, I rotated the squad the same. I threw competitive squads in because we had lots of good players but I rotated the squad.

“I think I did the same with Academica after I achieved salvation because the others who haven’t played as much have a right to play a part in the season – although you cannot compromise the club’s objectives, and achieving the most amount of points as possible.

“I cannot put myself in a position of criticism but I think any team that Newcastle or Sunderland will put out will be competitive.

“I think it’s exciting. All of the rest of the positions are more or less decided and I would say that the big fixtures of the weekend will be those two.

“Our job is to get the three points and get the tally that we want to achieve. What is happening on the other side [at Newcastle] we will know from the emotions coming from the crowd, so it will be pretty easy to understand. But we won’t do anything different, we just have to do our job.”
