it will be a real shame if we don't make it.

think AVB has shown his quality and immense dimension having us be in with a real chance on the last day with a weaker spurs team than last year. A weaker team ravaged by injuries that has played more games than last season

If we relate my previous post to goals for and against, away records, home records etc, yes we do not have the ability to put teams away as we should, if we did have we would already be sitting pretty in 3rd.
if the club buys a couple of good players and offloads one or two that enjoy being carried through games we may have cause not to be so delusional..

My only worry now is Wigan have to beat Arsenal which might make them a bit too open. I would have been happier if Wigan only had to avoid defeat.

Did you watch them try and hold out against Swansea? I would rather a Wigan side going out to score than one sitting back.

Anyone know where I can get the odds for the Newcastle and arse match next Sunday? I'll put a double on them beating Wigan and Newcastle then to cushion the blow somewhat if the worst actually happens.

BBC website having as Newcastle 100% safe.. How is that so?

Surely Wigan still have 6 points to play for?

I think it's a bit too soon for odds to be available no?

We're now seeing the value of that point against Chelsea. Assuming we beat Sunderland then Arsenal have to win both remaining games. Had we lost to Chelsea then Arsenal would have just had to avoid defeat. A draw and a win is not good enough now for them.

Almost every result in the last 2 months have gone against us. Even now results at the top and the bottom are far from ideal. Fucking irritating.

If Wigan win their last game, Villa finish behind Newcastle.

Cheers mate, Wigan v Villa. Forgot about that.

Good-ish news is if Sunderland are still in need of final day points it means Wigan have turned Arsenal over and its all in our hands...

If Arsenal beat Wigan on Tuesday then that's the relegation battle finished. Shame I always like that going to the last day. It'll mean all eyes on us and Arse.

Honestly I'm not gonna bother giving Arse's last two fixtures any of my attention. The only fixture i care about nowadays is us against Sunderland next week. If we win next week we finish the season with 72 points, and considering all the personnel changes this season, I would consider this an amazing season , CL or no CL. If Arse still get CL with us finishing with 72 points then so be it , all i know is I'm very optimistic for next season. :)

But it could get to a situation where it's 1 - 1 with with 5 mins to go and Wigan will just have to go for it because a draw is no good to them.

Asking my wife for permission to watch Arsenal vs Wigan on Tuesday is going to be an interesting conversation.

Totally agree.

However... :) I'm even more optimistic about next season with the lure of CL football. We might get a playmaker!

This is my worry. And will have to put out a more attacking team rather than gradually going for it.

I always say that to myself, but come tuesday i will be all over the Arsenal match.

72 points and no CL would be a travesty.
