A majority? When have these mass exoduses ever happened?
A mass exodus is obviously silly and over the top but losing Eriksen would be horrendous. I know he’s given us nothing to worry about in terms of leaving but missing out on the CL could tip the balance.

Yeah maybe, but seems to me it's just fans imagining the worst. There's been no indication as far as I'm aware that he'd agitate for a move if we miss out on CL.

To be fair there's only so much we can do from the stands, can't play for them and neither can Poch.
And you're right, finishing 5th isn't the end of the world. But I'm sure a good majority of the players will be on the phone to agents if we do end up in the EL. Try painting losing the very best of our squad, thus falling behind massively in the top 6, in a good light

It's a lot easier to play well when the fans aren't on your case after your first misplaced pass. The fans at the ground can be the 12th man.

And there is no way in hell that Levy would sanction a mass exodus. If players leave we will rebuild. People thought we'd drop away when Carrick left, when Berbatov left, when Modric left and when Bale left. And yet here we are, fighting for a chance at 3rd in May, having come 3rd and 2nd the 2 seasons before, and only finishing outside the top 6 twice in 12 or 13 years.

Do you remember the elation when BMJ got us back into Europe after so long out of it? Do you remember the elation when Crouchie got the winner vs City to get us CL? How have we gone from that to the attitude we see here these past couple of weeks?

Sorry, maybe I'm just too old to be taken in by the doom mongering.

I think even more importantly - I don't think we will sell...even if he agitates.

Missing out on top-4 will mean we lower our expectations on new contracts and new signings, but it does not mean we suddenly sell key players.

I think you have a point to be fair but i'm sure you can be constructively critical of the fact we've managed to cut a 10 point gap to 2 points on Chelsea whilst only playing one top side in City. I think it's been really unprofessional of late. After Chelsea, the lads obviously thought it was sewn up.
I thought yesterday we just ran out of ideas with a couple of decent chances thrown in. Yesterdays result was galling because we should have seen that out for a draw. The result against Brighton was the fixture for me that annoyed me. Lax from the start, got the goal we needed and the threw it away. Wasteful aswell and we are back to when Poch has spoken openly about being more clinical in all aspects of our game.

The next two games are massive games, but the question I'd ask is when isn't it a massive game? I have no issue people having issues with Poch, but I'd like to highlight the players have to take this responsibility as well. Some of our senior players have had fantastic seasons but when you hear things like 'wanting assurances' when the season hasn't finished it drives me fucking nuts. Do the business on the pitch, then get your money/etc sorted because you'll be in a position of even greater power then.

As I said, two massive games now in the context of the season for some, but when aren't they?

Poch is finished if we blow it from here, and quite rightly so. Shades of Redknapp 2012.

I can see things turning sour very quickly next season if the transition to the new stadium doesn't go as smoothly as planned either, especially if we're playing Europa League football. A little bit of Tottenham died within me the day we left WHL and to be honest I doubt that will be rekindled any time soon.

It will if "fans" like you are at the games.

Fuck off and support Liverpool. You'll be right at home on RAWK.

I totally get that pal. My biggest concern is the fact that Newcastle and Leicester know that we need 3 points from them and we’ve struggled to break teams down for a while now.

What I’m having nightmares about currently is the fact that Chelsea kick off 15 minutes before us on Wednesday. If we kick off in 5th place, I could see Wembley being incredibly toxic.
That'll be down to the fans then, you may not like the politics of those above, the selections of those in the dug out or even some of those on the pitch but if we do kick off in 5th i'd hope people could put it all aside and back them just like we (the majority) of us want the bald headed one to back Poch etc etc.

It's genuinely in our hands, it's whether those who line up on Wednesday firstly want it enough.

It can go two ways we win both our remaining game in style and finish 3rd. Or we do a so called Spursy and finish 5th.

Poch should watch with eagle eyes who is in or out imo it's squarely up to the players do they really won't it.

I refuse to lose anymore sleep on the matter , If the players don't care or can't be bothered ie thinking of their holidays or worst the World cup .... we need to root them out of the squad/team

Life was better as a spurs fan before all the champions league bollocks and expectations. Its turned the place toxic and supporters are starting to sound more and more.like entitled gooners, Scousers and mancs. Folks need to chill. Of course it'll be disappointing to finish outside the top 4. But with the squad and this season's injury challenges, we've still done well.

Again, not saying everyone would leave just saying it would be a rough summer with a lot of them asking agents to see what on offer.

And there will be offers, but yes Levy wouldn't let them all go.

Also thanks for reminding me of all those memories I haven't forgotten but you have to put it in context. Then we were a very average side with a few good players, and so European moments were magical for us. But now the club has grown immensely, and the squad the most talented in decades, with the most potential, standards have been raised. We cant just rest on our laurels now and be happy to be a top 6 side. But everyone at the club, but this applies to the older contingent of the fanbase most of all need to start thinking like we're a side that can be great, because we have proven time and time again that we can. In my opinion there is a bit of a loser mentality at the club that can only really be changed by winning things, or at least showing that things have changed and that would be by finishing in the top 4. Otherwise, its the same old Tottenham, another false dawn.

A majority? When have these mass exoduses ever happened?

They happen every transfer window in the hypothetical world some people choose to live in.

Everytime we don;t get CL Kane, Eriksen, Alli and others all leave.

Everytime a team puts a big bid together Levy rubs his hands in glee, sells the player and buy a cheap replacement.

Fortunately this only occurs in the hypothetical world.

Why grown men don't choose to see reality rather than theory is anyone's guess.

Finishing 5th would be a huge disappointment.

But if we fire everytime we don't achieve our aim we'll become like Chelsea but with less money.

Fortunately the board will keep Poch on regardless.

I don't think it's just the Champions League really. I think fans now paying £1,000 a season feel entitled to see us at least meeting expectations, even though in reality for every year we exceed expectations there'll likely be one where we don't meet them.

If we can't pick up 4 points against Leicester and Newcastle we won't have done well.

I too remember what it used to be like. When Cisse headed in the winner for Sunderland after Berbatov left....when we got spanked 3-0 at home by middlesborough... it definitely wasn't better...you've just forgotten how shit it was.

good post, would add in the can't be bothered section "eye on next big payday elsewhere"

based on recent performances unfortunately you'd have to say the latter outcome is more likely, we have created two cup finals for ourselves when they should have been Sunday strolls, let's see if we can finally rise to the occassion when it matters most...

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree we have to keep pushing for the success we all want and not get complacent, but that includes the fans.

Moaning and groaning when we aren't 2-0 up by half time as we have seen in so many match day threads this season is a losers mentality. A winners mentality is to never know you are beaten. The players need it, the management need it, and we the fans need it.

False dawn? Christ on a bike, I know it's been a hard week but isnt that just a little hyperbolic?
