The worst thing about that result is that it gives Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal all the encouragement they need to believe they can catch us. We've made our CL spot a very attractive target.

Agreed.

Though very conceivable that results can put it really beyond AFC if we beat them Saturday and they don't get anything at OT.

Many thought a 10 point gap was enough already. Yet we've possibly pissed that away in a week. Until its mathematically done, I never shake the feeling of them catching us, or more accurately, us fucking things up

No transfer spend in past 2 windows despite our players coming back from the World Cup exhausted total screw up over stadium. If we’d bought better RBs and replaced Dembele and the diminished Wanyama as a minimum then maybe we would have gone up another level. Otherwise he’s doing great.

I agree with you 100% we’ve all said it a million times. I was just being facetious.

It really is a telling stat. It's more than last season and it's only February. We could easily lose 3-4 more before the end of the season, which is crazy.

It proves what we all know deep down, that CM and FB are a big problem. PLus Lloris having his most erratic season yet. Yes we've had bad luck with Dier's problems (and to a lesser extent Wanyama) but the decision to sell Dembele was our own, as was not buying a single player in 2 windows.

The way you avoid defeat is being solid defensively and we've been far from it all season. This top 4 race is far from over. Saturday is so important now.

Poch should play a DMC then but he’s not. Wanyama keeps getting on the bench. If he’s fit enough to be there then he’s fit enough to play.

Actually it's not possible to piss away a 10 point lead in a week, that said the point of a 10 point lead is that if you have a blip or a downturn in form or a disaster you have a 10 point cushion to protect you, failing to maintain a 10 point lead isn't in itself failure

Unfortunately I felt like that as soon as we bombed out of the FA cup last year aswell

Yeah it’s partly that - it’s the last realistic prospect of winning something so once the FA Cup goes the hope dies. Then it’s just down to seeing how well we can do in the league and CL and that’s more nervous anyway in terms of the league as position means so much for the following season, so it’s not pleasant.

Otherwise this season it’s just been hard work and generally negative all round. No signings in either window, no new talent to watch, endless injuries to the whole squad, the Wembley nightmare and associated never ending stadium saga.

What Poch and the players have done to still be third is incredible but even they are looking fed up and exhausted by it all.

And to top it off we know this coming summer is going to be difficult.

And yet apparently you're a bad man for thinking like that. Despite it being completely fucking natural.

And people want to question what Michael Owen said re fans' mentality.

Yeah I bet Poch and the lads are on SC at the training ground right now, he’s just given them a big pep talk and they were really confident, but now Winksy has just shouted “Hey boss, Bobbins is feeling a bit negative about the rest of the season” and the whole mood has fucking dropped.

Eight defeats so far isn't a blip or unlucky that is entering mid table Territory fortunately no draws and along with chelsea, utd and Woolwich not being at their best we to date have got away with it next year we won't be as fortunate.
Feel like people don't realize this. We have 2 more losses than everyone in the top 6. We haven't been great this season and this has easily been the worst football we've played in the last 4 years IMO. Were it not for some late game heroics from Eriksen, Son, etc. we'd pretty easily be out of the top 4.

Even vs Dortmund we weren't that good, we had a shit first half, hit them well start of 2nd, they seemed to be content with trailing 1-0 entering the 2nd leg, we scored a great goal and then sucker punched them again. We have developed the grit to get wins from poor performances which is great but at a certain point those poor performances turn into losses.

We've clearly gotten worse off from a squad perspective. At least with Dembele last year he was such a force in the middle of the pitch it covered up some of these defensive holes we have at fullback. Now we consistently struggle to grab hold of a game when it gets away from us with our current midfield pairing. The defense gets bombarded for like a 15-20 min stretch consistently in games.

A poor result and performance yesterday. Whilst I'm not hitting the panic buttons yet, I am worried as confidence must be low and we've lost some momentum.

At least we don't have long to wait for the next match and hopefully the team turn up on Saturday. The Goons away record against the top 6 is atrocious. The last time they won was in December 2015 vs City. This season, they've picked up 1 point only which was a draw against Utd and lost the others.

Cue Dr Tottenham providing a cure!!

In all seriousness, win in Saturday and it'll give us a buffer again after what has been a difficult 5 days.

A win in the NLD would not only give us a firm grip in a top four placing but would also give us a much needed boost against BD.
