I mean I don't want to sound pessimistic or anything, after all nothing we've seen lately would push one to pessimism, eh, right...but, just theoretically, you know if a team gets 5 red cards, the match is ended. What is the official score? As it stood? Not suggesting anything, purely theoretical, right....:)

3-0 isn't it?

Perhaps. The counterpoint is that there may be financial realities involved - we don't know how much we've lost from the stadium delay, how many corporate clients that pissed off and the impact of that, and the rent charged by Wembley. Additionally, if we stumble into 4th rather than 3rd, that costs us about £5.5m from reduced Premier League prize money and Champions League TV distributions for next season.

Regardless, I think it's ridiculous to call us "pretty shit". At the halfway stage we were on course for 90 points and in late February we were still within reach of Liverpool and City despite not having a home ground. We have some extremely good players, we just need some better depth so we can avoid injuries, fatigue and under-par backups/subtitutes, and a bit more luck in terms of the injury front and not having such huge World Cup involvement. I could see a situation where with zero net spend again we're still better on the whole if e.g. Eriksen went for £100m, we spent half that on a replacement and £50m re-enforcing CM with a couple of players.

It doesnt matter what we were on course for we didnt achieve it and I think a lot of our performances in the first half of season were pretty shit and the second half of the season were absolutely shit. The team has resolve and thats why we have picked up more points than the quality of the side deserves. I agree we lack depth and some of the first team options dont meet the standard anymore. Arsenal are plain shite and we were praying they fucked up today so I think its fair to say we have generally been pretty shit.

Maybe not the right forum but while we’re talking CL - what if Chelsea finish 3rd/4th this gaining CL via the league- and then they win the EL cup earning the CL spot. Please tell me the EL cup spot doesn’t default to the EL runners up?!?!

Nope. If the EL winners qualify through the league, then the 3rd placed team from the 5th ranked league (France) goes straight into the Group Stage rather than the Third Qualifying Round League Path, and the runners-up from the 10th and 11th ranked leagues (Turkey and Austria) enter in that round rather than the Second Qualifying Round League Path. Therefore the 3rd qualifying round has the same number of teams as before, and the French side is also in the group stage taking the place otherwise reserved for the EL winner.

Simples!

Shit sides don't tend to reach CL or indeed EL semi-finals, get 45 points from 19 games, or go on 22-match unbeaten runs. People are way too quick to do the English game an injustice. I'd argue that right now the top six PL clubs are all in the top 12 in the world (alongside the three Spanish teams, Bayern, Juve and PSG)*. None of them would look out of place in the CL knockout rounds, as we saw with the worst of the lot (United) knocking PSG out. We're in probably the most competitive league ever in terms of the number of top sides being in it, and despite all the problems with fatigue, injury, depth and the stadium, we're going to finish 3rd or 4th and at least reach the CL semi-final. No amount of resolve or luck will see a shit side do that - we've had both, but it's on top of our best 12 or 13 players being really, really good.

*I know that sounds outlandish, but who would you put in there? The Dortmund team we pummeled 4-0? The Napoli team who lost 3-0 to this Arsenal side? Getafe of all teams are 4th in Spain despite not even having 60 points yet, Lyon trail Lille by 6 points in France. The English game is in an extremely strong position and I think we've done really, really well over a season to finish ahead of United, Arsenal and possibly Chelsea.

Be honest.

You’re not a Spurs fan unless you’re running through the various score lines next week that would deny us 4th.

if your 1 of the 60k then hopefully they will be watching the match not checking their bloody phones to see the score at Turf Moore, and the Walker Stadium(y)

Lacazette and Aubameyang CAN put five past a dreary Burnley side with nothing to play for.
.
No, they really can't.

Man City's 7 billion pound squad only managed to put one past Burnley at Turf Moor, and that was only by 25mm.

Stop being ridiculous.

I think we’re safe but just to be sure wouldn’t it be great if we couldn’t pick an attackers v Everton and just pick a load of defenders so we only lose by 1 goal. Crazy idea I know, not usually our style this season but ...

Went to go see the Avengers at 6pm and couldn't get signal at the cinema to check the full time whistle, I get out of the cinema, check my phone and see the score was 1-1 and the biggest smile came across my face.

We've limped over the line but thankfully we've done it. Time to regroup, go balls out on Wednesday and if it goes against us then it goes against us. We have a well earnt summer break and come back fresher and stronger and ready for another CL campaign.

COYS!!
