Was it him who offered £20m for Robbie Keane? Or was that someone else in the Liverpool setup? Also is it true he wanted Barry instead of Alonso or did Alonso want out already? He's a good manager but has had some strange moments during his career.

For sure I'd prefer van Gaal, but Benitez is head and shoudlers above of the rest of the field (assuming the Ancelotti 'link' is bull).

Isn't what we need. The fans will turn on him in about 30 seconds, the club will be brimming with negatiity and we will do shit. let's just skip this chapter and get someone who we will actually bck.

Its weird - the idea of blindly backing someone has been the Tottenham way for far too long. Why do you think that will bring a change? Honest question, I'm intrigued.

Weirdly it is starting to look like we'll have more of a choice than we previously thought.

If Rafa is available, then you can add him to the list of Van Gaal and Pochettino, with De Boer and Prandelli probably still on the list as well.

There aren't a huge number of big jobs available at the moment so maybe there is a bit of scope for us to be picky.

I just hope we're trying to make that decision now rather than waiting until Tim leaves or until after the World Cup. The new manager needs as much of the pre-season as possible.

Pretty sure that Prandelli signed and extension with Italy.

As much as I dislike Benitez, having TS in charge has given me an appreciation for any manager with a set plan, especially one who has won things.

So, assuming we can't get LVG or Ancellotti, I probably wouldn't want to kill myself entirely if Benitez took over.

Which part of yourself would you kill?

I'd be open to this. He was mildly overrated for a while, then ridiculously underrated and made a joke figure of.

He's a decent manager - experienced in our league, has won trophies, has worked with a lot of big players, far more tactically aware than Sherwood etc etc

The one good thing about Benitez is that he would keep a lot of our players happy with his rotation policy. Players like Capoue would get plenty of game time.

I would be reasonably happy with Benitez. Proven winner, although a bit defensive in his outlook.

Anyway, I have a gut feeling its going to be Mancini.

Benitez apparently loves the Premier League and is keen to manage here again...

Good manager. Not sure he'd give us the bottle to go out and beat the best but we could do a lot, lot worse.

Has a good knowledge of tactics, but not quite sure his rotation policy will be what we need if we finish outside the Europa places.

I'm quietly hoping that RM get knocked out the CL and finish 3rd in the league also. It could cost Ancelotti his job and he'd then become far and away my first choice.

I would prefer Carlo A as my first choice
After that it could be anyone of 3 or 4 but Rafa would be in that group I think he could do a decent job at Spurs

The risk is another Chelski cast off

I wanted him to replace redknapp back before we got AVB. His stock wasn't as high as it is now though.
