My friend was there for the Keane leaving do. They just turned up and threw a party. Apparently VDV had the sniffles...

Probably already been said but what he ( a top European sophisticated player) said about Redknapp should make a few people re think their view . H used to annoy me with his "they've never had it so good attitude" and it's obvious he wasn't a spurs fan but I don't think he'd reached his ceiling with us ( he'd taken us as far as he could type thing) , I think we could have challenged for the title under him. Tactics are important but Clough, Nicholson,Paisley, Ferguson, even Jose are/were managers first, tack ticks can be copied.

We were well on course to challenge for the title before Harry decided he was the next England manager and took his eye off the ball.

Here's all his goals:

Amazing how many goals he scores without taking a touch first....when a ball is pulled back to him he sorts his feet out so quickly.

He had all the instincts of a predator in the box.

Loved scoring against Villa lol, That second one at Villa Park, with ten men, what a goal. Also loved his first goal at Blackburn away, when Walker pulls it back....amazing the way he sorts his feet out for a first time finish.

That goal against Swansea at WHL in 11-12 where he just puts it in the top corner with one touch is one of my favourite Spurs goals. Absolute class.

Ok, thread's run four pages now and i can post without getting all emotional. Just wanted you to pause and remember that midfield again for a second:

Rafa, Modric, Lennon, Bale.

AVB should've been drug tested. bumlord :(

Funny really, AVB was manager when 3 of our best PL players were sold

AVB meant, you're not my number one Rafa, you're not in goal. That's all it was. ;-)

Harry didn't ask for this guy, he got him.

Reading Rafa talking about the midfield was a Real eye opener. Only Lennon didn't/hasn't played for Real.

Who needs proper strikers when you have that midfield. You only know what you've got when's it's gone.

Thanks for the kind words @rafvdvaart - you were a great player to manage. I'd do anything for you too!

This, his approach to the ball exuded supreme confidence, like even if the keeper was perfectly placed to block it the ball would've probably passed right through him lol

Don't get the hate for AVB regarding VDV.

If he hadn't moved VDV on, Bale would never got a chance to play as a no. 10; and he wouldn't have had the season he did which resulted in spurs receiving the largest transfer fee in the history of the game.

On 2nd thoughts, maybe if we kept VDV, Bale would remain at wing and then he wouldn't have had the all world season he did in his last year at spurs in which Real Madrid wouldn't be interested and he would be still be with us today.

In that case, f u AVB!

That wasn't the reason VDV was forced out, AVB wanted Sigurdsson in the middle. Bale only played there later in the season because Sigurdsson and Dempsey didn't perform when played as a #10.

You might call it a happy accident but it only happened because AVB forced one of the most popular Spurs players in the last decade out the door. I don't give AVB any credit for Bale.
