Ramos for the sack?

Ramos' position really needs to be questioned; as any Manager they’re responsible for motivation, instilling confidence, and unquestionably team selection and tactics. Is it not evident this has been sub-standard on all 4 points from the current set-up? Is Ramos really addressing these issues effectively and in the right manner? Is some of this lost in translation? Asides pre-season, it is a problem not new just to this season; we’ve repeatedly seen an overall lacklustre, below par performance where each game at best has only offered the chance of a few players giving a notable performance.

Although Ramos was unable to get the complete squad he desired after the short sightedness of Commoli and the Board (the architect’s of the situation) - whom should all be in the spotlight - if not more so than Ramos - I, really cannot believe the Spurs management as a whole realistically thought it would be a great idea to nigh on change the entire squad and expect immediate results!

It could also be argued in Ramos’ favour that Spurs’ failure to address the Berbatov issue and the dithering on Pavlychencho and Arshavin has not done him any favours too. Not securing Pavlychencho before his UEFA game is still baffling. Why not buy him before Berbatov left? Aston Villa bought in Steve Sidwell - now injured - as a replacement for Barry whom ended up staying.

Slightly deviating as this thread is not to focus around the mistakes of the Club and Commoli in the summer transfer window which undeniably has had a knock on effect with an incomplete squad. Though it surely shouldn’t have impacted to the extent where the players Ramos is left to work with are playing at this unacceptable level of performance? You have to look at some of the other teams in the EPL that are performing i.e...hate to say it...Hull! They lost their key player Campbell whom was instrumental in their promotion last season – look at how they’re playing without him!

Ramos is right; it will take some time for the team to gel, but at this stage of the team’s development is it necessary, almost at random to keep rotating the players? This would be understandable with a settled squad. It poses the question whether Ramos even knows his best 11. Aside from the injuries, a talented squad, arguably not quite balanced, should Ramos just pick or settle on his best 14 players and get them working as a unit with confidence and each player given the opportunity to play a full match? Is it surprising some of recent signings are bereft of confidence when often substituted after a poor performance? Each player must feel they can't put a foot wrong, living in the fear that they’re going to be pulled off the pitch at any point. Look at Defoe’s confidence now he has been given an opportunity to prove himself. And, if they’re not fit don’t play them.

Surely it would not be a knee jerk reaction to seriously examine his position after reviewing the results since the Carling Cup? And, how long should we realistically give Ramos?

By the way Derby County who got relegated last season had 5 points at this stage of the season. It really looks difficult to see when the next win will come....

Ramos should remain as Manager, sacking him will only hurt the club more. People on this very site said the same of Jol last year, they celebrated when Ramos was brought in. We are now back in the same position, and the same people that wanted Jol out and Ramos in, now want Ramos out and whoever in. We will get nowhere fast sacking managers, its fucking embarassing sacking managers year in year out. We have no right as fans of Tottenham Hotspur laughing at Clubs like Newcastle, are we really any better their fickel deluded fans?

Can he pull us out of this? If he can't he has to go. And I don't see him being able to. Maybe that's just the pessimism of the moment, but he's not a very good coach. Maybe he was in Spain or in Cups, but like anything touched by Comolli, he's turned rotten very quickly. He's the Kaboul of managers.

That's a pretty damning insult. Even calling him the Ginger Pele of managers wouldn't have been so bad.

Even in Spain his reputation doesn't extend before Seville. Rodriguez, Sevilla's DOF is the man behind their success. Ramos departure has had zero impact on them. They're third in La Liga with 14 points from 6 games, one point ahead of Barca.

If he was that good, how come Sevilla haven't dropped off since he left them?

when poyet is telling you the problem is large and complicated it's not spin, it's pretty much the truth. for me the main problem was the boards failure to complete the squad before pre-season. aswell as selling steed and teemu. add to this - for modric, gio and pav this league is harder to adapt to then we'd have hoped. +pav is knackered.

ramos and the team will be ok but they do need our support

Paul Miller was just on talksport, said he was in the directors box at the game yesterday and that Levy was very disappointed and very down at the moment.

huh!! so he fucking should be, cos I'm very down too! I'm surprised he has the balls to still go and watch what he has ruined.

The Lynchmob will soon be at his doorstep forcing him out, personally I think the whole bunch will be gone sooner rather than later.

Take away the four Carling cup games from Ramos record and his record is very average! In fact im sure he probably would have been sacked by now!

Alpha, I agree with your post and I have made a couple of similar points previously.

For people saying "give Ramos time." I would be going along with that if we were not bottom of the league! IF we were mid table, then the excuse of players gelling might hold weight. But just about any other manager in the prem would be able to do more with our squad.

I don't blame Levy in this as he has signed a lot of big cheques for Spurs and it was made quite clear that it was RAMOS who decided to sell Berbatov & Keane.

Well, I no longer rate Ramos at all, his record is dismal, Christan Gross had a better record than Ramos for god sake! Ramos has won the UEFA cup twice but before this he was an average manager chopping and changing jobs evey year or two, this bloke will send our club down, our messiah will become our nemisis if this isn't sorted out now.

I can't be doing with those on here now saying give Ramos time, what time to screw us up even more and make sure we get relegated, I feel like giving up on football this season altogether now and wait for the championship next season.

People really do need to pull their heads out of thiers asses!!!! How much time do we need to give Ramos before we see that he isn't the man for the job. The teams we have played i.e. Wigan, Hull etc. are teams we sould be beating especially at home. Whathappens when we play the top teams? It is goign to be embarrassing, if we don't get a result at Stoke his position needs to seriously be considered, I am not a supporter to call for the sacking of ANY manager for no good reason but having a team with the players we have sittign at the bottom of the EPL without a WIN is discusting. On current form we WILL be relegated I dont see why some people on here say we will never go down? Why can we not? If we dont win guys we will go down!

I was never convinced about Ramos, to many clubs in such a short period of time and only real success with one.
