Gomes - 7 - very little to do but handled well. I hope two clean sheets in a row will boost his confidence.
Hutton - 5 - did very little wrong but came off early.
BAE - 7 - continues to look very calm and accomplished on the ball. I still worry about his occasional moments of madness.
Gallas - 8 - rock solid throughout.
Dawson - 8 - almost as good as Gallas but occasionally found himself out of position. Did brilliantly for the goal-line clearance
Lennon - 7 - energetic and did a lot of running but final ball wasn't always great. Did an amazing mazy run that almost ended in a goal.
Palacios - 5 - it's difficult for him. Every game at the moment he starts off quite well, then makes a simple mistake and the crowd groan and he loses his confidence and makes further errors. I sympathise but he looks out of his depth at times.
Modric - 8 - brilliant. Always finding time and space. Looked in a different league to every other midfielder on the pitch
Bale - 6 - didn't move for the first 30 minutes. Picked up later and scored the goal but not one of his best games.
Van Der Vaart - 6 - didn't do much.
Pavlyuchenko - 5 - oh Pav. When he's not scoring he offers nothing to the team. Very little movement. Didn't chase after anything. Looked poor.

Corluka - 7 - A fascinating contrast with Hutton. Hutton runs down the line, overlaps with Lennon and puts in crosses. Corluka hovers around Lennon, never running beyond him, always exchanging passes and putting in neat through balls. Two good players playing the same position in two totally different ways. He did well.
Crouch - 6 - Held the ball up much better than Pav but should have done much better with his late chance.
Jenas - 7 - I'm not a fan but at the moment he's got to be starting in place of Wilson.

Gomes - 7
Hutton - 6
BAE - 7
Gallas - 8
Dawson - 9 - Man of the Match - Dominated, solid.
Lennon - 6
Palacios - 4
Modric - 8
Bale - 7
Van Der Vaart - 7 - Didn't get involved too much but he chased down very well and tried with Modric to get our midfield flowing.
Pavlyuchenko - 4

Corluka - 7
Crouch - 6
Jenas - 6

Jenas would have got a mark higher if he actually attempted to tackle. He's a good athlete, he closes down well, but he doesn't get stuck in enough.

Palacios was absolute wank for 75% of the game. Learn to fucking pass!

Dawson was absolutely immense. Solid at the back, won almost everything and dominated the Fulham attacks.

Horrible game to watch, couldn't wait for it to be over if I am honest, looked like everyone was out last night.

Gomes 7 thought he did well, not too much trouble to be honest.

Hutton 5 thought he was poor and got beat a couple of times, probably just tired out from all the matches.

Gallas 7.5 had a nervy moment or two but was pretty good overall and glad he is around for these games.

Dawson 7 didn't think it was a yellow card as Dempsey went down without a touch but was very nervous he was going to have a rush of blood to the head moment. Did well enough

BAE 6 thought he was piss poor in the first half and got much better in the second. He could really use a match off I think.

Lennon 7 end product wasn't the best but looked like the guy who was most willing to run on the counter.

Palacios 6 not his best or worst game, still lacking a bit of confidence I think but was better than some of the awful performances he put in earlier in the year.

Modric 8 MOM what a great little player, don't really know where we would be without him. Always moving always looking for the right pass. Had a couple of sublime passes in the game.

Bale 7 got beat up by Pantsil but did he best and got the winner, could have been much worse for a so so game from him.

VDV 6.5 was not at his best and we really need a striker partner that he can work with as Pav and him just aren't on the same page at all.

Pav 5 had one bit of good holdup play in his entire time on the pitch. We really need to improve there if we are going to challenge for things this year.

Crouch 7 thought he did a great job in the time he was on the pitch, won a decent number of headers and really should be starting when Defoe is out.

Corluka 7 good game from him and almost got an assist from a good Palacios pass.

Jenas 6 not on long enough but love his energy off the bench.

Overall it looked like the boys were out on the town last night but 3 points is all that matters. Might could do with some changes as the lads look tired.

Relief would be Harry's main emotion after this one. Did not quite freshen it up enough but we got away with it. Hurry back JD if only to pose a threat that includes oppostion defenders having to chase towards their own goal. The phrase 'running on empty' comes to mind here.

A day for the defence...I vote Gallas (how many of us dreamed we would ever be saying that:shrug:).

Been saying since last year that Hutton could yet have a career at the Lane, but he looked poor from the start. Was quite close to giving MOM to Charlie...thought he looked solid, composed and showed the type of deft passes to Lennon that those who moan about his offensive contribution just seem to miss, or blot out of their memory.

I didn't see today's game because I was too busy checking out the Guardian's chalkboard pass completion statistics page, but I'll give you my long-winded version of events anway. Cor, football is a strange game, isn't it? For 90 minutes Fulham battered us due to our stupid gung-ho football (which I hate!), and these failings were 100% down to a lack of proper coaching, tactics and preparation from our ridiculously English so-called coaching staff, but we managed to win the game 1-0 nonetheless. That said, I am sick to the back teeth of keeping clean sheets and scraping wins in tight games thanks to our risible attack-attack-attack 'tactics'. Believe me, if I was in charge - and we all know I should be; I can trap a football better than Darren Bent can, at any rate - then things would be a lot different, and we would win each game 84%:16% in passing statistics: guaranteed. Anyway, on to my ratings:

Gomes - 8 - Really kept us in it. Obviously, we should have been dead in the water as Dawson was playing, but it helps when you're the best keeper I've seen at the Lane since Lev Yashin got between the sticks for us back when I was still running rings round Puskas in my Sunday league side.

Hutton - 7 - Coped well with the Fulham threat down the left today, and gets an extra bonus point for having some pace and urgency about him. I can't abide great footballing defenders who can't even beat Theo Walcott in a race or the Klitschko brothers in a fight.

Dawson - 2 - Did okay with the many great last-ditch tackles, clearances and constant aerial domination, but still prone to massive errors in the clean sheet that we kept today and is surely lacking 7 yards of pace, intelligence and the ability to rainbow kick it non-stop from our penalty area to the opposition's.

Gallas - 9 - It's brilliant to have a winner in the side; reminds me of... well, me! Made up for all Dawson's stupid errors and was instrumental in us keeping a clean sheet.

Assou-Ekotto - 5 - Four begrudging marks for speaking the same language as Gallas and therefore helping him to single-handedly keep our clean sheet, and an extra mark for his always-snazzy hairdo. I still can't help feeling that he's a massive fuck-up waiting to happen, though: those collective 20 mad minutes he has in a 60 game season will be our downfall, I tell you.

Bale - 6.5 - Scored the only goal of the game today and once again was our attacking spark, but I am once again furious that he didn't help out Benny when his cornrows started going a bit skew-whiff in the second half. We will never get anywhere with a multi-scoring, multi-assisting, creative winger who doesn't do the dirty work and help his full-back out with his dreads.

Modric - 7 - Ran the game from start to finish and was once again a dominating presence in the middle of midfield who set the tempo, always made himself available to receive the ball in any situation and got through more than his share of defensive work. Still worth no more than a 7 because if I had my way, he'd be on the right in a 4-2-3-1 and would be showing Lionel Messi up as the greatest inside-right ever to have played the game of football. Until he learns to play where I tell him, the constant 10-ratings and hattricks every game will be merely my wet dream and not reality.

Palacios - 11 - The busiest, ugliest **** on the field. Mr Busy of Non-Stop Lane, Busysville, Effortshire has nothing on this guy. (Gets one extra bonus point for not having the audacity to be Tom Huddlestone.)

Lennon - 5 - Get out of Modric's position, you horrible, thieving Yorkshireman!!!

Van der Vaart - 9 - Perfect mixture of skill and industry: the skindustry of our team, if you will. I'm off to play some Nirvana.

Pavlyuchenko - 6 - Like all of our strikers, other than non-scoring but high-pass-rate-completing Peter Crouch, he's a lame duck. But at least he is a taller duck than Defoe, and therefore he's my preferred option over our last year's top scorer... and he gets 6 marks for the incredible feat of not being Darren Bent, who is stealing my rightful living playing professional football, dontchya know?!

Harry 4 - It should be meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.............!!!

It was basically a day of 5.5's with Fulham having a day of 4.5's. Gallas deserved a little better, Duff deserved a lot worse.

Dawson MOTM for me.
I'm not giving ratings at present because I wonder if I under mark Bale for just beating teams as opposed to making them look like Maicon.
Bale popped up with a big goal when we were struggling and that is what top players do.
I thought Corluka put in a good shift.

We seemed to be playing in 2nd gear, which proved to be enough...Think we may need to rotate a few for Everton....dangerous i know, but several looked jaded

Not our best performance, but we've taken 9 points in a week and kept back to back clean sheets for the first time in living memory. Gallas and Dawson both played well, Corluka staked a claim for a start while Hutton was far from his best, and Modric was very good in the middle. MOM: Dawson. Tough game, but our captain led us to another victory. Nice to see us win the untidy games and keep a clean sheet.

One of the worst games of the season, but was still enough and in fairness we were Fulham didnt create much and we should've had one or two more so can't really complain at the end of the day. Due to immense pressure from some 'Pool lads had to alternate every five minutes between their game and ours in the second half, so from the 3/4 of the game I actually saw I'd say VDV, Bale, Pav and Palacios looked a bit off steam (with the two former outperforming the latter and providing the goal, but you do expect a bit extra from those two), Gomes, BAE, Modric put in average performances, Dawson and Gallas were solid at the back while Corluka and Lennon created quite a bit on the right side. Crouch/Jenas/Hutton I cant really remembered how they played tbh.

MoM to Corluka for sitting patiently on the bench for the entire season just to come in and put in a very very solid performance. As someone else said, very different approach from Hutton going forward and without Crouch on the pitch I actually think it's a more efficient one. A couple of very neat passes to put Lennon through..

Now bring on Everton - a very important and winable game!

Yeh , it is interesting to compare Hut and Charlie at right back .

Charlie has excellent control over the direction and weight of his passes .He can assuredly pass to AL and adds to his threat level considerably .

Hutton...in the right mood (and after a few matches on the bench is always in the right mood) is an attacking threat with a deal of swash in his buckle .

you pays yer money and takes yer choice...nice to be reminded of how well Charlie and AL play together yesterday .

Dreadful game really .
