this line has been trotted out quite a lot in recent weeks on here, but I feel its appropriate again:

a bit like being the tallest dwarf today I feel....:)

(but understand your vote mate)

There is nothing about that statement that I can disagree with! You can polish a turd and all that!

Can't believe so many people voted Parker. They must've liked his fancy pirouettes. Bale obvious choice.

There's a reason Parker was charging around like a headless chicken. He was having to do the work of 2 men. Bale did afew little fancy step overs and did swing in a nice cross but for me against a team that really is fuckin shite wasn't nearly good enough. Bale should be runnin at the heart of the defence flicking balls thru and banging off shots. If everyone put in the effort of Scott today we'd have won comfortably. I hope he nuts Hudd in the changing room lol

Ever since we have implemented a defensive high line (due to lloris being so awesome), I personally cannot see uncle brad fitting in our plans. We should have played deeper and attacked them on the counter, which is more suited to friedels style.

In that midfield, Huddlestone was supposed to be the playmaker, dictating the play, receiving the ball and keeping possession flowing from defence to attack.

Huddlestone has excellent technique, but once again he proved he cannot dictate play.

that doesn't mean he has zero defensive responsibility

you have to win the midfield battle before you can dictate play

today showed how good Lloris is! Friedel glued to the line as usual, could have come for the 1st goal i think, even to narrow the angle and make Varney rush a decision, and he has to save the second, look at his footwork and body shape its actually diabolical!

friedel - 1

naughts - 4 - poor enough
caulker - 3 terrible! think he is a good prospect but thats all for now
verts - 5 unusually poor, think he thought he could do what he liked v lower opposition
benny - 6 the best of the back 4. gives better shape and quicker passing to the team down the left

parker - 3 he fouls all day, puts people on our team under pressure with poor passes, and takes 4-5 needless touches before releasing the ball! such an over rated player. need more than heart and grit to be honest

hudd - 5 sad to see how far he has gone back! slower then ever and seems to lack finesse which was 1 of his best assets
siggy - 3 had high hopes for him but seems to be a bit of a dud, cant reproduce swansea form for some reason
bale - 6 some nice runs and touches but he really is up his own ass! hate how he wont work for the team, needs a kick up the arse
lennon - 4 couldnt get it into it, having a good season but poor day today for him

dempsey - 4 dempsey is simply a poor footballer, if he doesnt score he adds nothing, very frustrating we had rafa last season and now this guy, not his fault though

we need a striker, preferably negredo, as we have seen with the SPL (bellamy, jelavic, keane made to look like falcao) hooper wont be up to it! we need a midfielder as if dembele is injured were really in big trouble!

It was a performance indicative of a squad that views the FA Cup low on priorities and we paid the price.

Don't think we can translate anything from today to what it means for us in the league, only reiterating the fact that we are severely short up front and we could do with Holtby now, but we knew that already, didn't we?!

Clever ploy by AVB to get a performance like this just before the deadline. He may as well have walked up and down the Elland Road with a placard saying "Daniel I need some fucking players".

I miss Sandro.

and Kaboul.

If Dembele gets injured again we won't finish fourth - that much I do know.

oh yeah and the whole Hudd has excellent technique thing is shite too

sure if you give him space he can stroke a ball kinda nice but under pressure he's got 2 left feet and his shooting is fucking shite he'll have meter long dreadlocks before he scores a feckn goal

I've got great techique too if nobody closes me down

Friedel 5 - could go out at first goal instead waiting at the line
Naughton 5 - average
Caulker 4.5 - average
Vertonghen - 3 worst game in spurs shirt
Benny 5.5 - he needs more matches ...
Parker 5.5 - tried his best but no success today
Huddlestone 4 - he's just not enough good for spurs at the moment
Sigurdsson 4.5 ... dunno what to say.. he's just not as good as expected when buying him
Lennon 6 - few good dribblings but he would definitely did it better playing at his old position all match (right wing)
Bale 6 - same as Lennon
Dempsey 6.5 he did it okay.. his default position is not striker we all know ;)

Obika 4 - not prepared for first team yet
Walker - can't rate him
Dembele 5.5 - few good dribblings but nothing special

Agree totally, Parker looked like he should be playing in the Championship and in fact I would have taken him off before Huddlestone ( I still don't believe that I just wrote that).
We were awful and why Michael Dawson wasn't playing in that match is unbelievable.

come on! Huddlestone is terrible. His hair will be tied round his ankles if this poor form continues.

Disappointing.....We put out a Spurs X1 rather than a decent "team". Walker and Dawson have largely been our defensive right side partnership since November (and Dawson has yet to be on the losing side); Naughton has played left back during that successful time.
It is just odd that Caulker has not played alongside Verts without Gallas or Dawson in support. It's a totally untried combination. Then add to that steady Friedel instead of dynamic Lloris and Hudd instead of anybody with a bit of go about them and we were in trouble. Don't even mention the lack of strikers!
I just hope our "proper" team can carry on where they left off in the PL... unscathed

I think Modric, Ardiles and Hoddle proved that you can dictate the play without winning the midfield battle thru physicality.

That said, of course Huddlestone has defensive responsibilities, and he's always been crap at fulfilling them. Any CM playing alongside Big Tom has do the defensive covering of two players.

However, a playmaker of the class of Modric, Ardiles or Hoddle means that you control the ball a lot more, and have to do less defensive covering.

I think we have seen why they don't play together... neither takes it upon themselves to organise the defence. You need a 'leader' in there who will talk to the rest of them in the defensive line and get them working as a unit.

Modric although having the physique of a 10 year old girl put in 10 times the defensive work of Hudd

Hudd is the anti AVB type player and the quicker he's sold the better
