That Kane has 2 goals in 2 Premiership starts is hugely encouraging.
That he also has consistently got into goalscoring positions shouldn't be underestimated too.
Sure his actual finishing needs a bit of work but what i'm seeing is the signs of a player who will make it.

I have some big reservations about Kane but have certainly seen enough from him to warrant perseverance, unlike Huddlestone and Livermore; Hudd is talented enough to make it big but unfortunately his flaws are too great to allow him to become a truly top player at a successful club. Livermore is bang average (by PL standards) and has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he could make it at a top club.

A bit off topic but three players at the weekend dropped in to play a bit of the old quarter back role for part of their games. Gerard, Huddlestone and Paulhino. I would be interested to hear how people rated the three in terms of impact in these games. For all it often involved picking up the ball between the centre backs and recycling it effectively....

God, comedy has nose dived since then!

On the mile thing, I don't get what the deal is. A mile is like what? a 20 min walk or something. Really isn't that much. A country mile is difficult to specify, as it is not a fixed amount so cant say. I always try and keep my ratings as objective as possible and make sure for my metaphors to be of the correct respective scale for my actual description.

Trouble is, a fair few are looking to leave this summer - vertonghen, Lloris, Dembele, Adebayor, Lamela. And Kaboul may retire. That is the whole spine of the team (+ Lamela).
And it has nothing to do with sherwood - they'd all had enough some time ago.

That is before we address LB for instances. I am coming to the conclusion, we are stuck with Soldado and Paulinho and just have to hope they'll come good. Which to be fair, is not impossible.
Based on what?

Well , we know Enic like to avoid spending their own money (net transfer spend in last 5 years under 1mill) so we need to free up some money with high profile sales , because we need some players .
For me Paulinho and Soldado , good players but not suited to the Prem , look like possibilities .Re Pauli I still have hopes that Etienne, mebbe Lewis and Timmy's fave Benteleb can step up , even the boy Caroll .

I'm sure many will disagree citing only 1 season is not enough to judge , but tough decisions need to be made this summer . What will Soldado's resale value be summer 2015 for example ?
If we buy smart we won't. Bring in: Riccardo Rodriguez, Schar & Drmic. We could balance the books by selling Lennon, BAE, Falque, Townsend & Dembele and promote Pritchard & Carroll.

Mostly based on credible information that leaks out, and plausibly can explain absences and attitudes on the pitch.
Without going through them 1 by 1 take Lloris for example - has been linked with the biggest/richest clubs in europe - his quality and ambition do not match ours, so as long as Levy is made a great offer, I think his departure would not be at all surprising this summer.

Decided to watch the first thirty minutes of the game again, and while there's no doubt that individual errors made a big contribution to each of their goals, one of the glaring issues was the lack of a CM to patrol the space in front of our defence.

It seemed to me that depending on which side of the pitch the ball was on the opposite midfielder (Lennon or Eriksen) had been asked to tuck in to make it a kind of midfield three, the problem with that was you can't have your cake and eat it, and when the ball was shifted quickly from one flank to the other via one of their CM (who sucked in Lennon or Eriksen) they continuously got their wide men in unmarked positions in and around our box.

It looked horrific, but wouldn't have been so bad were it not for the individual errors that peppered everything we did off the ball. If our defenders and midfielders can be relied on to do their jobs most of the time then the opposition wouldn't be able to work the ball in order to take advantage of our structural weakness, but once again they all made a plethora of mistakes, none more so than Rose or Naughton, but Kaboul and Chiriches also made their fair share too.

From 30 minutes on the mistakes stopped happening with some frequency and you saw a pattern to the match which may have been more what was in mind when the team was sent out, of course we were also massively helped by West Brom's rubbish play, and their lack of composure and desire to make the 3-0 count.

Oh most of that post was responding to Greenspur, and others to me rating Kane only 0.5 ahead of other players ratings despite claiming that Kane was a mile better than everyone else.

The part of that that was a response to you was a comment on how the keystone cops has not aged well as a comedy. Pointing this out by sarcastically claiming that comedy has gone down hill since.

The whole post was actually a successful attempt at very high level humour, which obviously was too clever for everyone in this forum. Who simply do not know high class comedy when they see it!
