Much work to be done but at least we won.

Rested on our laurels too much and a less profligate opposition would’ve punished us.

Lloris played well, most of his role was mopping up but stood tall and concentrated when Adama was through- I was fully expecting to see the net bulge.

Tanganga had a tough time with Adama, no shame in that. Improved after he booked as he wasn’t getting so tight any more.

Sanchez struggled in the first half and almost cost us by committing way too early to a tackle.

Dier was generally ok and had a good header from a set piece, but his foray up the post with the ball before loading the ball would’ve been unforgivable had we conceded. Owes Lloris big time.

Reguilón was ok, can’t remember too many issues defensively and brought the ball out of defence well a couple of times. Great pass in the build up to the pen.

Skipp got bypassed a bit easily for my liking, I’m not sure if he’s being instructed to push up out of possession or if it’s the eagerness of youth but I wanted him to buy himself a bit of time to read part on a few occasions as it made it tighter for the centre backs.

Højbjerg pressed well a few times age was decent in possession but I felt he could’ve protected Tanganga better given how much trouble Adama was causing.

Dele was our best player. Defended well, got into good attacking spaces and

Lucas was poor. Bad touches, blind alleys and pushed off the ball easily.

Bergwijn played well… except for the end product. Dele would’ve had a second if he’d looked up earlier, and he could’ve had one himself after Kane’s shot was saved (admittedly from his good work). Does feel like it’s coming together more for him though. One outrageous bit of skill on the dribble.

Son was a non event, barely remember him touching the ball.

Lo Celso brought a touch more control to the midfield.

Kane had an impact, we suddenly had composure again as a team. Did well to link up for his great chance but a sharp Kane buries that.

Winks - NET

From today's game it's kinda looking like another season of terrible Tottenham football.

And if Kane is sold it's going to be even worse, you can see the difference of quality between him and the rest of the team kinda shocking really. I can see why he doesn't want to stay.

Tbh there weren't really any standouts from todays match.

But its 3 points and we didn't lose.

For all their nice build up, the quality wasn't there when it mattered for wolves. We had the better chances overall and defended really well, albeit with some shaky moments in the 1st half when Adama was running riot. He was pretty much out of the game 2nd half which is a credit to those midfield 3 (EDIT: and Tanganga) who all worked their nuts off.

Motm is close, it was another good team performace but Dele shades it for first winning, then scoring the penalty, and then he was tracking runners, covering gaps, blocking, backing up Reg, tackling all game while still managing to have an offensive threat.

Kane looked focussed, almost scored.

Voted for Dele but honourable mentions for:
Tanganga - could have shrunk away from Traore, particularly once booked but kept on working hard.
Lloris - clean sheet on your 300th PL game is nice and he dealt with what he had to.
Skipp - another decent showing from the young man.
Bergwijn - not sure if he will ever be what we need but definitely showing signs of improvement.

Dele hardest worker on the pitch for us today. Good threat on our few forays into attack, great defensively, and massively helped our backline keep a clean sheet. MoM ahead of Hugo.

Hugo tidy in goal, but to be honest apart from the 1 on 1 he didn't have a lot of difficulties today. For all their work, Wolves didn't really create a lot of really big chances.

Lloris MOTM for me

No one had perfect games, or even close to it,. But they all worked hard, and many raised their performance after having shaky parts.

Dele obviously won us the game, and ran all day.

I thought today was a classic case of the sum being greater than the parts.

Lloris - 8 - MOTM. Broke Spurs record PL appearances today and kept a clean sheet. Safe hands, great kicking, and saved a 1-on-1 with Traore.
Tanganga - 7 - Solid game despite being terrorised at times in the first half.
Sanchez - 7 - Pretty solid
Dier - 6.5 - Deducted a point for his rather pathetic attempt to dribble on the half way line which led to their best chance. Also a very strange clearance shortly after that just invited pressure.
Reguilon - 7 - Showed good tenacity but did get caught out of position a couple of times.
Skipp - 7 - Unlucky to be booked. Grew into the game. Too cautious with passing first half.
Højbjerg - 7 - Another who grew into the game and a lovely nutmeg in their box. Also too cautious with passing first half.
Dele - 7.5 - Contender for MOTM. Won and scored the penalty. Worked incredibly hard with discipline. Just needs to realise that the new rules mean he cannot fall to the ground and get a free kick.
Moura - 6 - Did not get in the game at all. First touch was heavy throughout.
Bergwijn - 7.5 - Better second half after a very poor first. Lovely skill to set up Kane's chance. Also had a nice shot earlier their keepr did well to save.
Son - 7 - Poor first half. Also needs to realise that the new rules mean he cannot fall to the ground and get a free kick. Much better second and surprised he came off for Kane. Should have been more selfish (clinical) when in on goal and his attempt to pull it back cost us a goal.

Lo Celso - 7 - We kept the ball a lot better once he came on for Moura.
Kane - 7.5 - We were noticeably more potent with him on the pitch and also could keep the ball. Should have scored.
Winks - n/a - Only on for 2 mins, nit sure he touched the ball.

Nuno - 7 - Can't really score him lower when we kept a clean sheet and won away from home. But I thought we were too passive and he waited far too long to make a much needed change. I think this season will be much like last season, but with fitter players (less late goals) and better team spirit.

Hugo MOTM for me by a mile, his kicking was superb and created our best attacking chances all game, there was a period where Wolves looked stronger and fitter and were bullying us physically and then Hugo came for the ball and sent Semedo to the floor and it was just such a message of showing the rest of the team to boss their battles. That's before we even mention the superb save in the most pivotal moment of the game. That killed the confidence of Wolves for me, excellent.

Skipp for me.

We were poor throughout, despite winning. And despite getting maximum points so far, I am under no grand illusion that we will do well this season if we continue to dish out that kind of display.

Lloris, MOTM for me. The one on one save was class and his distribution was quality releasing SB couple of times.

Big ups for SB, his second half was top quality. Thought we looked so much better once Moura went off, whether that was the balance was better or Wolves ran out of juice?

Dele couple of great runs in the first half and earned the penalty. Lots of effort and work but needs to look after ball better.

Back four all had nervous moments but stuck at it and for all Wolves dominance apart from the Lloris save they did well.

Skipp and PEH worked there butts off, couldn’t relieve pressure though as we couldnt get around the Wolves press and Moura was particularly poor in that respect.

Moura so good last week but so poor this week. This inconsistency plaques him really.

Nuno good subs, rebalanced team and GLC and Kane both added something.

Hard working win

Horrible performance to watch, & I don't know how we managed to win that.

However, that's 2 wins & 2 clean sheets. Lovely.

Hugo MoM for me. Composed, excellent when called upon & seems to have retained his long distribution from the Euros.

Didn't see the game. What I've noticed though is a lot of people saying 'Don't know how we won that', which is a huge improvement on last season when it was always 'Don't know how we lost that'.

Dier also but that one stupid run into midfield let me thinking well it is dier.

Anyone longing for the guy who ostracised Dele Alli for no reason and almost had him sold? No? Anyone?

A game to show us exactly what we need and also grab a win.

Let's start with the shockers, son - can't remember him touching the ball, no hold up play whatsoever and also no service.

Lucas, well we had his one in ten game last week and reverted to type. The only suprise is that he wasn't dragged off at half time.

The hit and missers - Dele, won the penalty with a great run, scored the penalty and looked better when Kane came on but was wasteful in possession (as usual).

Bergwijn - I like him, mainly because he generally holds on to the ball rather than losing it everytime he gets it (see Dele, Lucas and son). But he really doesn't do enough. Again though he improved dramatically when Kane came on and also was always a threat. I'm interested to see how he develops this season.

On to the ok, our defence and defensive midfielders, individually not great but as a unit very good. One mistake from dier and traore being a force of nature apart they were solid enough. Weakest - Sanchez, strongest hoijberg.

Lloris - mom.

But Kane coming on changed it, just a massive change. We suddenly had someone who can hold the ball up, someone who could link the play and be a goal threat. He also made the players around him better. I fucking hate the way he has been a complete nob, but on the pitch he is vital for us.

No chance in hell of us getting cl without Kane, with him a very small chance.

We need two players urgently, one is a winger who can dribble (preferably one end to the other -like traore or Saint maximan.

The other is a man in midfield who can pass and be creative (eriksen of old).

Happy with the win, lots of 6s and maybe a few 7s (Dele, Regui, Dier, Lloris).

Just hope we add a bit of quality next week and try to play more football.
