Agree with most comments but I think Paulinho deserves a mention. He has come on in recent games and done very well. He certainly helped to turn the game back in our favour and I thought he was very good today.
I'm sorry. It's good to compliment our own players, but apart from the one-touch pass to feed Kane resulting in the 5th goal, he was clearly struggling to keep pace with the game. Cant blame him as he was coming on as a sub, but I dont think he did well. No pace, and lost the ball quite a few times in the 20 minutes he was on. A harsh view on our own player, especially after this superb victory, but this is my brutally honest opinion of Paulinho's cameo.

Unbelievable progress over the past month!

Chadli edged MOM for me as he was productive with everything he did but he and Kane were 10/10!

I am surprised people disappointed with Eriksen he started something positive nearly every time he had the ball!

Bentaleb was good also, loved the passion! Did you see him give it to Fabregas when he was trying to influence the ref!

Give me a team with that passion and starting with 4 players from the academy any day!
And Vetonghen's genuine sense of joy when celebrating our goals. True passion!

Rose - 7- I was furious with him for their first goal, he sat back appealing for a throw in and just let Hazard run at him and then got twisted on his arse before they eventually scored.

Not to worry. His arse got twisted back into place by Cahill when scoring the 2nd goal.

Lloris 7 - didn''t have much to do really but brilliant save

Walker - 6.5 - Still not back to his best but made a couple of good tackles.
Fazio 6.5 - stupid mistake to give chelsea a goal, but made up with it by that hazard tacklee
Vertongen - 7 - solid game
Rose 7.5 - should of done more for their first but scored and got up well

Bentaleb 7 - assured performance cool in possession
Dembele 7 - also good in retaining possession

Townsend 7 - took the penalty well and put in a shift
Eriksen 7.5 - his movement was key in creating the space for the two stars of the show to shine
Chadli 9 - always a menace, deserved the goal and showed what a player he can be. Chelsea couldn't deal with him.

Kane 10 - no words. This is the performance that announced him to the world. The first goal, like his run and pass against man utd, could easily fit within a Messi highlights reel as well as having the touch of Bale about it. His second could be an Ibra goal.

I like the fact that Chelsea was playing with their strongest lineup because they took us seriously, and still got whip. It's funny when at 4-1 and 5-2, we became complacent and against Chelsea no less. If we keep with this level of tenacity and intensity in every game we play, top 4 is no issue, we could even aim higher.

Poch - I really don't know how much credit he can take for this win, it might be plenty, it might be less, I need to watch it again and cogitate. I would have preferred Stambouli on than Paulinho.

Football eh, go fucking figure.

Look forward to the full analysis when it comes, meantime just wanted to comment on this bit. Basically some coaches can take credit for what they do on the training pitch, for the attitude and cohesion they instil in the team quite apart from whichever tactics they choose for this or that game. Whatever you eventually think of his tactics, Poch should get a high mark for what he's done with our team so far.

Every player gets arse raped by Hazard. He destroys almost every defender he plays against. In this instance, I certainly believe it was a case of Hazard being exceptional, rather than Rose or Walker being very poor. Saying that, I still think we gave him too much space but when he's directly against one player, Hazard usually wins.
No, not every player. There is someone who has kept Hazard in his pocket;)

Ratings:
Lloris - 7 - you can pretty much chalk Chelsea's goals up to mental fuck ups by us
Walker - 6
Fazio - 6.5
Verts - 7
Rose - 7 - his goal makes a 6 into a 7
Mason - NET:(
Bentaleb - 8 - boy am I happy to be wrong about starting him today. Played great today. Fantastic game from him. Going to miss him for the next month
Townsend - 6
Eriksen - 7
Chadli - 8 - fantastic game. unlucky not to have gotten 2 or 3 today
Kane - 10 - clear MOM. He is the reason we won. He single handedly dragged us back into the game and pushed us on wth his first goal. SImply flawless today. Love him. Absolutely love him.

Dembele - 8
Paulinho - 7
Davies - 7

Huge praise for the courage and quality for his penalty kick, but does anyone else feel that Townsend was below par again and isn't taking the chance to stake a claim for that starting spot long term?

I just found him quite underwhelming personally.

have to agree - I have not been given much confidence by any of our right wing positioned players thus far and none of them have done enough to stake their claim.

One thing i would say is that Townsend seemed a lot calmer on the ball in the first half and made a couple of good decisions with the ball rather than shooting or trying to beat his man - there was a some improvement there but he still has a lot of work to do.

Both he and Lamela need to take a long look at Chadli's performance yesterday for how to best play as a wide player in the 3 behind Kane.

After the 4th his face looked like "I dont know what he fuck is going on right now! We have not prepped for this scenario but i love it"

I am pleasantly surprised that Dembele was not slated on here after this game - but, surprise-surprise....Paulinho was (of course) slated and jugded by "super natural standards". This guy - according to many fans - can do nothing right. He was not setting the world alight, no, but he certainly contributed to help Spurs' keep the rhythm and flow that kept Spurs "in-charge" of this game. And he was NOT the only one who misplaced passes in the last 20 minutes or so.
I guess it's the same fans who wanted Poch sacked not long ago and didn't bother wheter Jan was sold etc. etc.
The synergetic effort - i.e. players getting used Poch systems, each other and the EPL - is starting to bear fruits now....

Crazy wonderful game...

I rememeber when Bale came of age in the San Siro....Kane had one of those nights ...He was simply world class and dragged us up to his level of commitment.....boy what a performance Harry.

Chadli raised the bar lastnight and showed us at last what he can do, i hope Poch can get that sort of performance out of him more often...

Verts and Bentaleb both deserve huge credit,, putting out fires and making sure we didn't buckle.

couldn't davies have done better for the 3rd?

Does last night's game (and ManU to a lesser degree) throw a small spanner in the Eriksen must play on the left theory ?

I don't think he shouldn't play on the left ever, and I'd play him there sometimes but I think the last couple of games have disproved the idea that he must play left haven't they ?

i think chadli's performance throws a spanner into those particular works rather than eriksen's. i don't know how you can use the utd game as evidence, he was totally anonymous until late on - when he moved wide.

I was a bit disappointed non-plussed with Paulinho personally, he maybe doesn't deserve huge criticism but he really didn't contribute very much, it has to be said. He seemed to go and play as a second striker, rather than getting back in to the midfield and helping out as we came under pressure towards the end. Maybe it was a tactical instruction, but for me he had to drop in a bit more.

I also have to say that I thought his yellow card for the high foot also in my opinion summed him up - lacks bottle. He was slight favourite to win that challenge, yet bottled out of it and then went for a reckless and very high waved foot, and if he had made contact with the Chelsea players head could easily have led to a red card.

He needs to put himself about a bit more.

Edit: Didn't realise it was his pass that put in Kane when he went round the keeper (thought it was Chadli until I just seen it again), that was a very nice pass in all fairness.

no spanners or works for me, the three need to rotate including with the man up top to keep the opposition twisting turning and guessing. they don't all have to play blinders at the same time. really enjoying the post-win mood on here, although those pointing to imperfections need to go for a nice winters walk, or quick pint.
