Thought Mickey and Fraser did well. The rest were poor.

If that's what Hoijberg offers when he starts he can go.

Our performance especially in the 1st half was just as ugly as our 3rd kit.

I am sure Vicario would have saved at least one of those penalties as other than Wilson's the penalties were soft. Thought Forster was better that.

With no stand out performance from the team, I will give MOTM to Richarlison for our equalizer

Pretty awful all over the pitch today, couldn’t pass water, lacked any creativity until we made the changes and were generally sloppy from minute one.

Not gonna give any individual ratings as it was hard to tell players from each other on my shitty stream, but they were all shite.

Forster was unbelievably shit with the penalties.
Son made no difference when he came on and is carrying last season’s form into this season.
Sanchez was very bad though I don’t blame him for putting himself forward for the pen. It’s everyone else I blame for not telling him to fuck off.
PEH was rubbish, what the fuck was that left footed ‘effort’ near the end.
Skipp was so poor, he should never play on the right of midfield.
Lo Celso was nothingy. Injured or on way out?
Solomon, Emerson, Davies all just meh.
vdv did ok.

Ange to blame for this one. Bissouma, Maddison, Kulu, Romero and either Sarr or Udoghi needed to come on before the 60 min mark. Ange will learn from this but it’s too late for the fans. Another trophy gone and it’s not even September. 9 changes was stupid, 6 would’ve been much better, no flow or rhythm for 60 mins. That’s what happens when you change the whole team for a cup match against PL opposition away.

Disappointed massively but still massively believe in Ange. We’ll have a very good season in my opinion but for tonight, everyone can fuck right off.

Thought the midfield three let the backline and wingers down badly with a lack of movement and providing options, bit like watching us last season.

Solomon looked sharp but nothing around him to link up with

Glad Richy got a good header with a great cross from Perisic

Some decent defending from centre halves at times

Ben Davies looked lost/doesn't suit the system

Dane Scarlett was quiet but grew in confidence with a lovely bit of skill near the end

Game opened up a bit more with Sarr on the pitch. PEH and Skipp are way too similar to play together

Pens a lottery

Can see the merit in Ange wanting to give the second string a chance in a competitive match but in the long run these players will now have very limited opportunities for game time which is disappointing for some

This was my biggest takeaway. Without Bissouma and, to a much lesser extent, Porro, comfortable taking the ball under pressure from the CBs and turning, we were very limited at building the play from the back.

Bissouma really ties the system together atm and was out biggest miss. PEH was nothing compared to him and Skipp was poor too.

Disappointed but Ange has been pretty clear from the start that the only person that can assess whether players can play his way is him. How can he assess all the players unless he gives them competitive gametime?

Thought Sanchez was fine. Yes he gave up possession with his passing twice, but refer back to the story where Ange talks about a defender who did the same and it ended in a goal, but he was happy with him because he didn't bottle it to start lumping it upfield and kept trying to play the way Ange wants. Sanchez did that tonight and also had the cahones to step up for a pen, knowing full well the fan reaction should he not score. Credit where it's due that man has bollocks of steel.

Forster was good for the 90 and may as well have just not been there for the pens.

Thought VDV and Richy were decent, although Richy does get knocked off the ball too easily so can be frustrating to watch. Still, MotM for getting off the mark.

We lost it in the midfield. Tonight showed how important Biss and Maddison are to how we play now. For me PEH has not bought in at all. Still lumping it up to nowhere and taking wild swings.

I love Skippy but he was pretty anonymous tonight. I have zero doubt that had he been playing alongside Bissouma and Maddison he would have had a far better game.

GLC looks like he's halfway out the exit door. Night and day from his pre season performances.

I have no doubt that Ange will take responsibility for the loss. My faith in him has not wavered one iota. We were told it'll likely be a bumpy start by the man himself.

Forrester. Couple of saves but generally ponderous on the ball. And did he not have a water bottle with the info on. Even a blind man could see they were putting everything to his left??

VDV. We have an absolute gem of a player. Prime verts with pace.

Sanchez did everything to prove why we want rid. Countless misplaced passes and aimless long balls. Turned inside out for the goal. And then misses a pen. Tbf he shouldn’t even have been taking with the players on the pitch.

Royal. Nice back up. And could do a job if he trusted who was behind him.

Davies. Not a fullback. Doesn’t get passed the man in possession. And and just passes sideways or backwards

Skipp. Had a shocker

PEH. On a plane to Manchester by the looks of it. Bit certainly didn’t look like he gave a fuck.

Persic - terrible apart from the cross feels the need to “take a player on” first rather than cross it.

Solomon. Much better on the left. Didn’t really do much. But didn’t really get much either

Lo Celso - expected big things. But hw showed the lack of faith in him other managers have showed. Nothing of note at all. Suprised he was subbed

Richy. Just so poor In Possession. Got a goal. But lost the ball so many times. We badly need another forward.

subs

Son - dropping off like Verts did. Sad decline. Hope this isn’t the end. But it looks like it.

Sarr. Showed how to keep the ball moving.

Maddison. Just so lively.

Kulu. Made a difference when he came
On.

Scarlett. Didn’t really affect the game at all.

I won’t be checking my toys out the pram. But super disappointed that we yet again didn’t take a cup seriously. And have gone out with a whimper. It goes to show that below the first 11. There is a real lack of quality. And ability to play the way big Ange wants.

Really poor performance. That’s somewhat taken the shine off of the start to the season. You have to question the starting line up if we’re taking the cups seriously. And I know penalties are supposedly a lottery but it annoyed the hell out of me that Forster got sat down the same way for every penalty.

Anyway, got talking to some Fulham fans on the train home and they said we brought the best away support to the Cottage in a long while. Does that count as a positive? MOM: the fans.

No one comes out with any credit for me other than VdV. Poor attitudes from many of the players, poor effort from the rest. Props for Dav for taking the penalty, but he, along with half of this team have to go. I can't stand the torture of watching the same players putting in the same lack of effort/skill whenever they play. If this was a test as Ange has suggested, VdV excepted, not one has made themselves an automatic starter.

Very disappointing. We got a clear idea of how Ange would fare with Conte's last season team. Its the 'new' players that have been largely behind our good start, not a magic Ange(5) wand. He's been doing well in the Prem true, but the 'new' players are the key.

Everyone agrees with the basics of why we lost so I won't labour it, but I do find myself extra irritated by Ange's attempts to rectify the situation. Chucking Lo Celso(5) at HT, yes and bring on Mads(7) ?...No, Scarlett (5) Mads came on with 10 mins to go. We needed our wonderful 1st team midfield to come on. The engine of our recent successes. Surely Ange can see that's why things have gone so well.

Son(5) and Kulu(6) are not the reason we have been doing well.

As some have said, We need to win something. Ange can try occasional B teamers in Prem matches where we can lose and rectify it...BUT in cups, that's it, you're out. Bitter defeat.

Sad day when a player who performed like Richie did (5) gets a general MoM

The whole concept of playing a weakened line up in cup competitions is flawed. Every time we do it we crash out. It’s disrespectful to the competion, the opposition and the fans.
Ange’s raționale of needing to see his fringe players in competitive situations is indifensible . Play a strong team , get it won early and then make the substutions.
So what did we learn that we don’t already know ? Forster is average ( the way he committed himself too early in 4 out of 5 penaties was laughable ).
Davies would not be the answer if Udogie got injured.
Sanchez, Hojbjerg and Lo Celso will be shipped out if offers come in.
Skipp is a bang average player , overrated by many.
The only rating I will give is Ange 0/10.

Ange shouldn't get a 0/10 for this.
He had already said that the starting 11 need to be kept fresh for PL games.
Cup games like this is a low priority for us, and we don't have the squad depth to truly compete.
It's a rational decision.
The disappointing thing is the low quality in the fringe players; but having said that, its why they are mostly on their way out.

If they are mostly on the way out why chose them ?
Disagree that cup games should be low priority.
