Motm - Son - to be under that kind of pressure and score 2 absolutely quality goals tells us how good he really is.

I actually wasn't impressed by anyone in defence. When you play 3 at the back, one should at least be available to cover their partners being one on one. It's basics. But this formation is all about don't be the one that makes the mistake instead of fight for each other.

However, that's the system we play, invites pressure, which puts the defenders more into don't make a mistake mentality instead of defend as a team mentality.

Up until Son came on, I thought Leicester would get the equaliser, but his class was a huge difference maker.

I loved that we went 3-5-2, but not with bissouma, PEH and Bentacur as the three players feeding Son and Kane. We need 433 or 451.

Whilst 6-2 was great, up until 60 mins we made Leicester look better than they are.

Bentancur my MOTM, Sobs three goals were icing on the cake and was Bentancur that carried that effort for long periods.

Lloris again great saves, when we’re under pressure his distribution just doesn’t help.

Lenglet apart from one poor ball was steady and needed to be used more as an outlet, he just looks calm on ball. The exact opposite Sanchez who was all at sea and could have been subbed after a few minutes he was that bad, we cannot retain possession with him in back three. Dier ok and nabbed a valuable goal. Sess I thought was ok up until his error for their goal and then largely irrelevant. Perisic a tale of good and really bad.

bentancur outstanding, PEH was poor until we started getting on top in the second half with Bissouma marshalling the central area.

Ricarlison,Kane and Kulu just didn’t seem on same page and everything looked rushed and wasteful. Poor games withKul looking best of them.

subs, for a change looked well timed and progressive. Shout out to Emerson who shored up that righthand side. With Romero we looked so much better playing across the back and Bissouma really grew into his role. Then there was Son who could have been MOTMbut Bentancur for me carried a dreadful team effort for a long time And his goal opened the game.

Conte, not a great set up but changed it when needed.
Barcelona and top teams doesnt rely on the keeper to break a press. Why highlight our keeper's distribution when our outfield players has been massively shit in their passing and ball retention.

Bentancur for me. He changed the outcome of the game. Son sealed the outcome and I couldn't be happier for him.

Went with Son, not for the match per se, but for what it means going forward.

Son motm.
I dont think we can say the 3 in midfield is a generally better formation based on this game.
It is a better formation when we are in the lead and the opponents are committing men forward. Then we sit back and let son/kane destroy them.

But when we need to break a side down, then we cant have 9 defensive minded players on the pitch as sure we'd have more possession, yet we'd create nothing

Watched it live from the south, watched motd and just watching it again on sky replay.

Sanchez made several mistakes but so did Perisic. Sanchez improved his defending as the game went on. Perisic didn’t.

can’t have one rule for some mate
The only point of Sanchez is defending. That's all he provides. If he can't do that properly then there's no point in him.

Perisic at least provides a massive attacking outlet from his crossing and on set pieces (both delivery and in the box). As well as being decent in build up play. If Perisic is defending poorly he can at least offer the team something else. If Sanchez is defending poorly then we simply have a soft spot in the team.

Both were rightly taken off in this game though.

let's see if we can sign a creative midfielder in winter window...

I find there to be an impressive lack of delusion in this thread. For 60 mins we went toe to toe exchanging goals with the bottom team in the league. An equaliser would not have been an anomaly given the overall spread of chances.

Sonny (8)MoM arriving at a time when Leicester were tiring/searching for an equaliser, scored a pair of superb goals and another and it looks like a rout.

Hopefully there will be further improvements before the Arse match.

Lloris - 8 - Several huge saves, can't be blamed for the defensive mess.
Perisic - 3 - Really bad on the right, looked more comfortable on the left but his recent form is starting to look concerning. His corners remain an excellent tool.
Sanchez - 2 - Just completely awful, terrible in possession, stupid mistakes defensively. Him at his worst.
Dier - 5 - Not good, but important goal.
Lenglet - 5 - Don't think he was at fault for the defensive shambles.
Sessegnon - 4 - Bullied for the 2nd goal, bad performance.
Hojbjerg - 6 - Improved 2nd half
Bentancur - 8 - Really good in the 2nd half, scored a great goal coming from winning the ball back, and set up another (Son's 1st?) after again pinching the ball high up.
Richarlison - 3 - Really bad, nothing came off for him.
Kane - 6 - His touch and all round hold up play is really off at the moment, had a big chance to play Son in between his 2nd and 3rd goals but selfishly chose to shoot. Keeps scoring important goals but there's a lot more to be had from him.
Kulucevski - 6 - Excellent assist, he needs to start because he's the only attacker with real guile and creativity.

Subs:
Emerson - 7 - Looked a lot more stable with him on the pitch even if it was unspectacular stuff.
Son - 10 - What a day for him, hopefully we have last seasons Son back.
Romero - 6 - Noticeably better than Sanchez.
Bissouma - 6 - No strong feelings on his performance, as a tactical sub it freed up Son more and made us more resilient. Did the job successfully.

Conte - 5 - A truly awful 1st half and he deserves criticism for how we're generally playing at the moment, but tactical tweaks and substitutions did improve us.
Match day reporting isn’t for you mate

The same Sanchez who almost put a header in the top corner but for a good save by Ward?

Should be sold years ago
He set the tone for that first half performance. To give a penalty away so early in a game is just criminal. Lucky for him we recovered and went onto win it comfortably. Need to upgrade. If possible move him on in January.

At the risk of becoming an Emerson-Truther, I thought he was excellent when he came on. In a game where we looked really wobbly defensively for long stretches, especially at Wing Back.

I know everyone wants/expects our WIng Backs to be banging in goals and assists but they do also have to be able to defend. Emerson does that better than any of our current Wing Backs.

My motm was Bentancur. Smooth classy player with bite. When bissouma came on and ate up territory, bents became even more of a menace, and robbed Leicester for son's first wonder goal.
Bentancur scored about 25 minutes before Bissouma came onto the pitch.

Little bit unkind sl...everyone has a right to an opinion surely...at least he/she is giving actual ratings ...
It’s not unkind. It’s a silly attempt at being funny in response to the content of their ratings which I (like it appears many) Disagree with. Under no circumstances am I saying they can’t give ratings or share their opinions.

Why are so many people so easily offended or to take offence. it’s so tiresome.

I thought pretty much everyone was poor first half. Special mentions for Sanchez and Sessegnon for two pieces of really poor defending for their goals. Bentancur and Højbjerg were again over run, but both are also very good. Once we went to a three in CM Højbjerg went up a level. Perisic was poor in open play (but what great set pieces!). Lloris made a few very good saves at key moments. How nice was it to bring on players of the quality of Son, Romero, Bissouma and Royal!

Lloris - 8 - Kept us from being embarrassed with key saves from Maddison and Daka. Unlucky with the penalty as well.
Perisic - 6 (7 going forward and set pieces, 5 defensively).
Sanchez - 5 - Really bad series of errors that led up to the penalty he conceded. Improved, but we look shaky in possession at the back when he plays.
Dier 7 - Nice goal - good to see he is using his aerial ability to make us more dangerous at set pieces.
Lenglet - 8 - Best defender yesterday, good positioning and good on the ball.
Sessegnon - 6 - Made some great runs and aggressive tackles high up the pitch, but spoilt it with some really school boy defending of long diagonal balls, one of which led to Maddison's goal and the other a worldy save by Lloris to maintain our lead at 3-2.
Bentancur - 8 - It is hard to judge him sometimes as both and Højbjerg can look very pedestrian when Conte's 2 man midfield get's overrun by opponents and we concede possession. But yesterday he was class, especially second half. Nice goal and he was rewards for always pressing high.
Højbjerg - 8 - Same comment as Bentancur re: us being overrun in CM. I thought Højbjerg was fantastic once Bissouma was on. He made several bursting runs, with the ball (e.g. to set up Son's third) and without the ball (e.g. to be the overlap when Son scored his first), and played some really progressive passes (e.g. the one that released Son down the left wing). If we do switch to a 3 man CM I feel he will become a lot more influential for us and go up a level.
Richarlison - 6 - Great effort as always, but seemed to try too many flicks and contributed to us not keeping the ball very well first half.
Kane - 7 - Another poachers goal and second half his passing was back on point.
Kulusevski - 7.5 - Only player to look dangerous first half and set up the first goal with a wicked trademark cross.

Romero - 7 - Did not have to do much but we were so much better on the ball once he was on.
Emerson - 7 - I thought he was also good without having to do much. Helped us get control of that right flank (but probably more down to Romero TBH)
Bissouma - 8 - Very good when he came on and is making an argument for us to switch to a 3 man CM.
Son - 9.5 - If he had scored the squared ball from Bentancur it would have been a 10/10 performance. A 13 min hat-tick. I do not think there are many players in world football who can curl worldies into top bins from outside the box in such a controlled, technical manner with both feet like Son did.

Conte - 7.5 - First time he has really used his squad and his subs well. I am not sure we have ever had the luxury of bringing players of the quality of Romero, Bissouma, Royal and Son on. On the down side, yet again we had a pedestrian first half where we were outplayed for long periods by a weaker team. I know we restrict teams to speculative chances and it opens up space for our own counter attacks, but the score yesterday flattered us and it easily could have been 3-3.

Second half was one of Bentancur’s best for us.

Obviously Son gets the plaudits but Bissouma was a really good sub too.

Just my opinion, don’t think Lloris distribution when we are under pressure helps and wasn’t great. Were others guilty of poor passing and ball retention? absolutely Sanchez, PEH, Kane and Ricarlison were among poorest.
