Speechless...fucking awesome performance.

MOM Wanyama

I called the team selection earlier in the week ,with the exception of Lamela for GKN :smug:,.....look at how Leicester won the league... speed and pace frightens defenders...

The level of pressing up to this game won't be acceptable to him, mate. We may not see the uber pressing like today for a few,, but we will see a significant increase in intensity, distinct from the level we saw up to today.

Our slow play this season is not part of an overall plan. He hasn't been happy about it.

You know this for fact?

Genuine question

Amazing - everyone
Dreadful - me (I wasn't comfortable until the 93rd minute and nearly cried when we missed the penalty. I should know by now, this isn't a Spurs team I have ever known in my 32 years on this planet)

I feel your pain. I'm not used to my Spurs having solidity and mental fortitude. What a magnificent change.

Hold up man hands, i was wrong in my opinions pre game regarding who should lead the line.

Watching that first 20 mins yesterday I was literally buzzing - we were everywhere at all times doing everything. I was genuinely humbled by it and today when i go into work, as the only spurs fan in the office, there will be a number of people wanting to shoot the shit about yesterday and i cant wait.

I personally dont think we had the collective energy to do that against Everton or Liverpool earlier in the season and that kind of press is maybe less effective against teams that dont want the ball as much as City would.

For those who are down on Lamela,
both goals came after crucial ball winning by him.
He did his part. Agree about playing out left though, not the best for him.

Lamela's been way too much stick and too little credit lately. He's often the one inspiring the press off the ball and it's him more that Eriksen that's opening up space and playing key little passes.

I explained at the time and several times since why I wasn't in favour of the Wanyama signing, but have since praised him just about every game he's played, probably made him MOTM in more games than anyone, and repeatedly stated I'd pick him ahead of other options. Even when saying I don't want to see the Dier/Wanyama/Dembele CM2, I've stated it's Wanyama I'd keep out of the three of them to play next to a more footballing option.

I repeatedly defended Son's role last season, I've never not liked him, at worst it was indifference, several times stating he was very adequate for his role as striker or occasional AM, in the summer I stated I was indifferent to him staying or leaving, that's all, cracked some joke about me dusting off my boots if we need someone to replace him, but have given him plenty of credit for the good stuff he's doing this season. You said you thought he'd change a lot of people's opinion this season, and so far I think you've been proven to be very right, credit to you for that, and my indifference is now looking misplaced, long may it continue.

Walker will always be Walker, I cannot pretend I been overly impressed with his oeuvre to date, but have again, repeatedly acknowledged that his defending has been consistently better for the last year.

Its a shame you are not a scout.

For West Ham.

Where's that confessions thread
for apologising for writing off players
sometimes before they have even played.
I was very underwhelmed by the signing of Wanyama
but he is proving me wrong I'm pleased to say.

How the fuck do they come up with these, Otamendi higher than all our outfield?

@jonola I'm not one for 'why the disagree' but why the disagree? :pompous:

We haven't conceded from open play in the PL this season.

Hahaha that's a combo of fat fingers and eating dinner whilst scrolling and reading. My apologies matey, will remove it

So according to that, they had the best outfield player (joint) and we had the worst... And Lloris MOTM? If you looked at that you'd think he was the reason we won.

Interesting. :dead:

The only one they have correct there is Son = 7

And that's assuming they were just printing the shirt numbers. :hungry:

Lloris 7.5 - Initially poor distribution, but great positioning and sweeping, some top saves.

Walker 8 - Pretty much flawless, without being inspired.

Alderweireld 8 - The usual masterful performance.

Vertonghen 8.5 - I think Jan was even better than Toby yesterday; I particularly loved one moment, late in the match, when he managed to put his foot on the ball with 3 City attackers swarming around him and then squeeze it out to a teammate under huge pressure.

Rose 8 - By contrast with Walker, not flawless (daft fouls), but often very inspired.

Wanyama 9.5 - MotM. A wonderful display of hard-nosed defensive midfield play, along with opportunistic forays into attack. The platform upon which everything rested.

Alli 8.5 - Very much the best all-round display from him recently; a one-man swarm, in all parts of the pitch, capped with a sweetly-taken goal.

Eriksen 8 - Quietly excellent, linking everything together from a deeper position than usual and making some key interceptions and even a tackle.

Sissoko 7.5 - Powerful and effective, although he faded as the match wore on (by his own account, he is still developing his fitness).

Lamela 7 - Loses a half point for the shit penalty, but still an essential part of our pressing game.

Son 9 - As well as a classy assist, he made Bravo's life a misery throughout the match, closing down at intelligent angles and stifling Man City's attacks at source. Whether he was "a striker" when he arrived at Tottenham is a debatable point; he is now. This season he is stronger and quicker and entirely better-equipped to lead the line.

Dier, Nkoudou, Janssen - NET

Pochettino 10 - Out-thought Guardiola, selected an effective combination and formation and inspired them to perform.

Looking at the 2 line ups side by side again, how many of City's starting line up yesterday would presently get into our team ? Aguero, and maybe ( though not on yesterday's performance) Fernandinho and Sterling . And our bench was stronger too. Shows how far we have come and how much they rely on De Bruyne. Their best player was Stones and could he displace either of our Belgians ? And they are supposed to walk the title.

And whoever wrote that report not only got all the ratings wrong but couldn't even get our formation right. More confused than City.
