To be honest utd are not a bad team and should of beaten Arsenal the other week as well. They completely destroyed them, but Ars got a lucky goal, unfortunately we didn't. Mkhitaryian terrorised us today simply put.

Lloris 7 - I don't think he had much of a sniff at their goal and he made a couple of decent saves to keep us in the game

Walker - 7 worked hard, his pace saved us more than once. Not enough of an impact made offensively today
Toby 7 was solid all game I thought, great to have him back
Verts 6 played well enough but got done for pace a couple of times and I thought he stepped up at the wrong time for their goal
Rose 7 was exposed too far forward for their goal but all in all played well, should have pulled the trigger late on

Wanyama 5 too slow on the ball, too many sideways and backward passes and he should have buried that header
Dembele 5 also too slow to move the ball forward, prevented us creating chances

Son 6 poor all in all but unleashed 2 decent efforts at goal to at least give De Gea something to think about
Erkisen 6 similar to Son really, should have done better with one of his efforts as he had a lot of time
Alli 4 today he was a liability. None of his tricks came off and his lack of discipline to work for the team cost us heavily

Kane 4 I can't think of a worse performance from him in a Spurs shirt. Isolated up top, United did a man marking job on him. But he looked sloppy and frustrated whenever he did find time on the ball and his pass to Eriksen which was no where near him lead directly to the goal which cost us the game. A game to forget for him

Sissoko 7
credit where it's due, he came on and looked very lively down the right flank. His positivity and drive briefly woke us up and inspired us to get back in to the game. Unfortunately nothing came from it (much like all his crosses) on another day playing like that he'd have won a penalty and been the difference between defeat and a loss. On an individual level he did well

Winks 6 Was a difficult game to come in to, he didn;t look phased and did well enough considering, but when push comes to shove he was unable to make any real impact or change the game in our favour on any level

NKD - net - barely did anything in his breif cameo but had no real opportunity to do anything

Lloris- Enjoy him while he lasts.

Walker- Best player today.

Toby- Good to have him back.

Jan- Bit clumsy but on the whole, fine.

Rose- Feisty but clumsy.

Wanyama- People seem to think he isn't part of the problem... But there is a big fucking problem, so if nothing else is working, I think its time for him to have a break, just to see if it changes anything. I rate him, but recently he has been crap, and today he was fucking atrocious.

Dembele- When you ask your mum for an Action Man for christmas, but instead she gets you the knockoff version, Combat Man, who looks almost exactly like Action Man, but his legs bend the wrong way and his camo jacket gives you scabies. Dembele last season was Action Man. This christmas we've got fucking Combat Man.

Alli- He has always looked like he could potentially be... a bit of a donkey. But there is also some magic in him that just works, and makes him really exciting. Needs a wand up his arse though, because he's been wank all season.

Eriksen- GROW A PAIR.

Son- Thought he was lively at times, but stank the place out more often than not.

Kane- What the fuck was that Harry?

.....

Sissoko- People seem over the moon that our new puppy didn't piss on the sofa for once.

Winks- Meh, fine.

GKN- Dont think Poch rates him because he seldom gives him more than 8 minutes to do anything. Surely we need to dip in to the market, Poch clearly doesnt rate half the bench.

Fuck off.

Not often i can find someone to agree with 100%.

Really poor by Poch. Our passing game was so bad and especially Dele was completely off today. He gave the ball away cheaply so many times. It almost felt like he stopped all our attacks by himself. When Wanyama and Dembele also had trouble moving the ball then Poch simply needs to do something. Either a sub or move Eriksen in central so we have someone who doesn't dwell on the ball and can move it. We need to move the ball faster in a game like this and be more clever with the ball.

One simple possession i noticed was when Kane and Eriksen played one-two on the right side and Kane then played it long to the left to Wanyama. Wanyama then took 5-6 touches and hold the ball for an eternity before he passed it on and the United defense had then scrambled back in formation.

maybe it was the players Xmas party last night. Would account for why Wanyama, Alli, Dembele, Kane and Walker struggled to pass to team mates without taking eleven touches.

Perhaps "VoiceofReason" is not the best choice of username?

On the whole, Walker was the best player today though.

Lloris and Sissoko played well. Toby weren't bad either. Midfield created very little today

Lloris 8 - MoM - a couple of excellent saves.

Walker 7 - was pretty good but got caught out a couple of times. I blame Poch for this though as he was pushed really high up the pitch.

Toby and Verts 7 - were solid enough.

Rose 6 - was a bit hit and miss... the space behind him was exploited too much for my liking by the Armenian, and his decision making in attack was poor.

Dembele and Wanyama 4 - both poor.

Eriksen 6 - was either very good or sloppy.

Alli 1 - his performance was pathetic.

Son 6 - he was pretty decent in the 1st half and wrongly hauled off in the 2nd half. He seems to be Poch's scapegoat.

Kane 1 - he was woeful, all he did was set up Utd's goal and have one half arsed attempt at goal. For as poor as Janssen is offensively at least he works his arse off... something Kane failed to do.

Sissoko 6 - worked hard and troubled Darmian, a good performance but was let down by his poor touch in the final 3rd.

Winks 4 - no worse than Dembele, tried but nothing came off. Needs a bitch slap for passing the ball backwards after Alli's cock up.

GKN - n/a

We really need something different in midfield- Winks can play instead of Dembele for a while, but we really need a lock pick. Hope Lamela comes back soon- Alli needs dropping. And Poch needs to admit this.

Sissoko was our best outfield player. Lloris was also good.

Poch was worse than Alli, for not replacing Alli. I mean really? Even my blind grandma saw how terrible Alli was.

Not worried - Defensive 5

Isolated - Attacking 4

Needs Addressing ASAP - Wanyama and Dembele

Dembele attempted 40 passes according to fourfourtwo.com. Wanyama attempted 50. The majority of those we all know were rather risk averse. Take a look at fourfourtwo and their charts to see for yourself.

That is 90 passes out of our CM2.

All, or most, press/possession oreiented teams that we would all like to compare ourselves with have a midfield of ball movers.

Winks and Dier for me need to be given a go. I sacrifice strength and power for guile and the will to move the ball.

It's as simple as that really. The more and more I see us play the more and more I know this to be true.

Personally think we looked worse when we swapped winks for Dembele. We lost the ability for any sustained possession or the ability to build pressure. We lost the ball at the drop of a hat in the last twenty minutes. Before that sub we were actually building pressure. What we were lacking and have been for a while especially on a big pitch like OT is running ability in the final third. The front four that start are all pretty one paced and lose the ball far too easily and are quite careless on to many occasions. Sissoko actually gave us some penetration even though he's still not good enough technically with ball.

Its not always about how quickly you move the ball or how msny passes you make. Carroll used to pass the ball as soon as he got it and raked up loads of passes but it didn't really mean much most of time. It has to be the right pass. If you can't truly handle the ball under pressure the easy thing to do is pass the ball quickly but quite often the end up being hospital balls and you'll generally end up losing the ball two or three passes down the line.

Winks I'm sure has got potential but I've yet to really see him truly influence anything especially when under pressure and he has dissapeard in patches in games. Dier I'm still not convinced is comfortable on the ball under pressure in a high tempo game, especially back to goal.

We actually sustain possession and build sustained periods of pressure with Dembele and Wanyama in midfield. The much bigger problems are further forward where we are one paced with and without the ball, careless in possession and lack any intensity in trying to win the ball back when we lose it up there. Playing winks and Dier in the centre won't make us a better team. I'm absolutely convinced by that.

Yeah, I understand your argument, but I guess it is agree to disagree.
