Still not happy how the team at the bottom is still able to control and shield the ball better than us. This is why they scored against us, where if they hadn't, we would have gone second over Liverpool on goal difference, all beit temporarily.

Anyway, 3 more points and a much needed win.

Strange timing and use of Subs by Jose

I have to give Ndombele MOTM even for its for that audacious goal, which complemented a very good performance.

We're gonna win the league now. I can see it. We set up differently today, and we controlled the match even if it was only Sheffield United.

I might as well say the above, since there's an unwritten rule that one cant provide negative comments on the team when we win.

Much better today regardless of the opposition. I watched Sheff Utd v Newcastle earlier in the week and they battered them (even before the red card) and we’re a constant threat, so I wasn’t underestimating the challenge today despite their league position. Props to Jose for setting us up in a way that nullified their threat and also made us look far more dangerous in attack. Regi was awesome first half but faded second, Ndombele my MOM for some beautiful little fizzed in passes in the first half and that unreal finish to give us breathing space in the 2nd.

Rodon looked shaky early on but grew into the game.

-5 for Jose and his weird timing and selection of his subs.
Not sure what is weird with this timing as next match we are playing is in 8 days and most of starters today won't play in that match

MOTM : TANGEEEEEE!!!! Pure class and you know he meant that

Special mentions good & bad:

* Reggy was class 1st half, proper nuisance and probing speedy runs!! ...
* Rondon, im liking this guy, he could develop very well, some inexperience at times but in general solid performance, but key element is he doesnt make me nervous, he looks assured
* Davies - standard for the mistake and it was his mistake, nice guy, ok player but always has a few costly errors in him

Why even bother making subs then? He gave Vini 2 minutes and Sanchez 30 secs if that. Could have rewarded Vini with at least 10 minutes of game time as we were winning and looked very comfortable.

Totally reasonable post to put on the first page of this thread when this gripe is already causing tumult in the Mourinho thread. Cracking stuff.

Lloris had no chance in the goal, and otherwise was fine dealing sensible with the half chances and hopefully crosses that came at him.

Rodon was a breath of fresh air. Threw himself in front of a shot, won his headers, marking was spot on and showed impressive pace a couple of times.

Dier made a few excellent blocks, recovered well the one time he was done for pace and otherwise had an uneventful match flanked by the two Welshmen. Blaming him for the goal is mad, he’d have had to be 8ft tall to have a chance on that header and it’s not as if he lost the goalscorer. Worst you can accuse him of is that Davies had worse reading as a result of his jump so he shouldn’t have but that would be massive nitpicking.

Davies, however, was poor on the goal, I felt he was ball watching instead of being aware of McGoldrick, who as a result built up the momentum to bulldoze in with the header. Otherwise a solid with performance, can’t remember him being beaten, and allowed Reguilón to bomb on.

Aurier scored a lovely header, offered a great outlet all match as he stretched the pitch and never let up with closing off pathways. Can’t fault him for the cross to make it 2-1, he’d done his job on his man.

Højbjerg looked back to normal, won the misfits battle (with perhaps more importance placed on this given the lack of Sissoko). He was accurate and neat with the ball with some decent progressive passing, including for Kane’s goal (even if there was plenty to do still).

Ndombele worked his socks off closing down, he broke through the Sheffield press singlehandedly, played multiple incisive passes from start to finish and scored an absolute beauty. Not sure he’ll always have that much space but I am sure that when he has less he’ll still be our most effective player in that role. Man of the match.

Reguilón as ever was an absolute dynamo, up and down, great pace, and some of those whipped crosses are so pleasing to see. He’s not far from his first Spurs goal I feel.

Bergwijn had his best hand of the season in an starving sense with brilliant movement to make space, several lovely passes and continuing to find himself in dangerous areas. Knitted play very well and his role in Ndombele’s goal was artistry.

Son the creator today was very good, he caused panic whenever he ran at their defence and his corners were all very good, not just for the other. Shooting was off.

Kane liked energetic, strong, pacey and as ever took responsibility to be our talisman. Had his shooting not been off he’d have had a hatrick instead of just the one screamer.

IMO Hojbjerg was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. I realise that Tanguy will get plaudits for his 'wonder goal' though.

Always been mora Moura man over Bergy , but today I thought Bergs was tidy with crisp passing keeping our moves going and a Dele-esqe scoop over for TN's goal .His best game for us imo . Good stuff today .

I liked Bergwijn today. Not for MOTM obvs, but just for linking things together well. Understated, but good.
