Ratings vs Wigan Athletic

I thought we tried really hard throughout the game and I can't fault the efforts of our players but as we already know...we lack quality.
In 50 minutes Wigan had 2 efforts on goal and scored 2 goals................just our fucking luck!
I thought the referee was shocking and how Gomez wasn't shown a straight red card for his challenge on Holtby around the hour mark was an absolute disgrace.
I said a few days ago that Parker needed dropped and todays performance vindicates my suggestion.
AVB a tactical genius?

Talk about a game of contrasts...
Huddlestone took a slight hand in the face and went down like a sack of spuds. Holtby, had his faced raped by all six studs and didn't even flinch or look for a freekick.

Was a lot like the Gazza high boot into Gary Charles? chest, but right into Holtby's face, and wasn't even worth a free kick...

Thought we were totally poor. Completely bereft of any guile or skill second half. It was hurting my eyes. Parker was our Attacking midfielder. Says it all.

I'm seriously disappointed with how poor holtby's been since arriving. I really thought he was going to be the muts nuts. Dempsey, Siggy, Holtby and Adebayor...All fantastic pieces of business.

We have 6 top quality players in our squad.....Lloris,Verthongen,Kaboul,Dembele,Sandro and Bale...........that's it.

Take out Dembele and I agree.

No one deserves the man of the match award.

Lloris (6) was pro active and made an important save.
The Hudd (5) had a solid first half but did nothing of note in the second half.
Vertonghen (5) poor marking for their first goal, important tackle later on.
Walker (4) started well but turned into a spoilt child when Wigan took the lead, he has a long way to go.
Defoe (4) peeled off the defenders a few times in the first half but ultimately didn't have a shot on goal until the last minute of stoppage time.
Dempsey (3) MIA.

First game in a long time where I found myself thinking I can't vote for MOTM simply because they were all so incredibly poor today. Huddlestone perhaps, but you'd expect him to do a fair bit of passing anyway when we are the only team in possession for the better part of 90 minutes.

Agreed, he was ok in the first half but in the 2nd he was terrible. dawson and vertonghen had more of a midfield impact. coming on as a sub for 20 minutes at the end is his role.

We can't have world class players in every position. Before AVB came to power, 9/10 cats on here were saying that BAE (<3) was the 2nd best lb in the EPL behind Ashley Cole.

Walker was voted PFA ypoty last season, so we can't write him off yet.

iirc score points wise, this has been Lennon's 2nd best season for us during his 8 seasons with us.

Omar,Ekotto will be gone in the summer.
The other 2 are very decent squad players but definitely not guaranteed regular first teamers.
Walker has plenty of pace and is decent however his passing is erratic and he is very rash defensively.
Lennon as you rightly say has been here 8 years,he ain't getting any better.

I don't know wtf is up with people's ratings, they are far too high all round - and huddlestone as motm implies he had a good game... seriously??? Huddlestone didn't create shit, just a bunch of sidepasses, backpasses and short No Risk short range passes. On the odd occasion he had enough balls to try something it wasn't really accurate enough and he wasn't great from set pieces either. the entire team was shite, i'm not criticising huddlestone as being worse than anyone else, just to be clear. There was a passage of play when we were fucking 2-1 down and he exchanges about 4 passes back and forth with dawson... where is the urgency? Same across the whole team, no-one took responsibility aside from bale on a few occasions but didn't get anywhere.

Walker - can't pass anyone. Pacey wide player and can't pass anyone. This is becomming clear now he's almost zero threat.

Holtby - he's is not a creative player. Sometimes he is the antichrist of creativity by not fucking turning and facing forward! At least once today we were on a break, and he passes backwards... Oh fucking dear. yeah sometime he makes good one touch pasess but the inteligence isnt there.

Parker- misses or just never sees the optimal pass. beyond shite going forward. If holtby moves the ball too quickly then parker's the opposite.

Basically we are shite. If it weren't for bale's individual goals we would be seriously unhappy with this season and people wouldn't be happy with AVB either. I think we've found out modric was irreplaceable as all the best players are.
