Gomes 5- didnt come for their 1st goal. flapped at a goal they had disallowed that should have been given.

Hutton 4-- Jarvis turned him inside out. his positional sense is awful and he relies too much on athletic ability to make up for his mistakes.

Gallas 6- caught out of position.

Dawson 5- doyle owned him.

bae 5- not particularly good and poor distribution.

pienaar 6- ok. good workrate not enough end product.

sandro 7- did well. smart passing.

modric 6- a bit wastefull.

jenas 6- did ok. got foreward.

pav 6- 1 stunning goal. little else.

defoe 8 mom- 2 stunning goals. hit the post with 4 minutes left. a lot better.

subs

bale 8- even on the right looked lively. got the ball, took his man on time and time again. unlucky not to score.

lennon 8- did well on the left.

Special mention for Sandro MOTM by some distance.
The guy was everywhere, chasing and tackling anything with a heartbeat.
He was really impressive and must start against Milan.

Gomes 5 didnt look confident

Hutton 5

Gallas 7 fist half 5 2nd

Dawson 5 worst game in a long time got attracted to the ball too much leaving hutton and gallas exposed and 2 v 3

bae 6- only one to turn up second half and did well but didn't attack as much as he could off leaving the left side empty

pienaar 5 worst game so far but he did get in the right positions shame his end product

sandro 8- did well. but jenas did help him out a couple times in the first half but grew in to it and was the best at the end

modric 6- worse game this seasons so far

jenas 6.5- did ok and looked good with Sandro at times

pav 8.5- 1 stunning goal. best game so far, was the most creative player and him defoe held ball well to allow enough time for the midfield to get involved

defoe 8.5 mom- 2 stunning goals. But as soon as Pav went off, he was isolated up front and played better with pav behind him

subs

bale - did ok
lennon - didn't do as well

This except Gomes made one good save and the disallowed goal was clearly a foul on Gomes although the commentator was trying his best to argue otherwise.
Jenas combine very well with Sandro.
Sandro was my MOTM. Corluka should replace Hutton once he is fit.

Gomes 6 - Wasnt assured with his aerial display. Made a very decent stop. But should have dealt with the 1st goal better. More dominance required

Hutton 5 - Jarvis had the better of him today. Conceded the penalty and extremely lucky to stay on the pitch. Didn't use Bale effectively when he came on. Needs greater concentration

Gallas 6 - First half was immense. Second half got pulled out of position trying to cover.

Dawson 5 - Really poor. Lacked positional sense. Passing was not controlled. At fault for lack of marking for Fletcher goal.

BAE 6 - An average performance. Had a few (complacent) moments but I dont think he was all that bad either.

Pienaar 6 - Good industry but lack of ideas. Lacked penetration.

Sandro 8 - Very economical with possession. Strong in the tackle. Seems to have caught up with the pace and the power of the EPL. A very useful player.

Modric 7 - Not match fit and the pitch didnt help but a below par performance by his own good form but still a lot better than most.

Jenas 6 - Did the job as a box to box midfielder well at times when the ground opened up in front. But wasteful in one or two positions and also tried to take the ball forward beyond his capability on another.

Pavlyuchenko 6 - Great goal. But at times his touch was woeful and was knocked off the ball on so many occasions. All round disappointing performance.

Defoe 8 - Two great goals. Hit the post with another. Shows he is better when he doesn't think about it.

Subs:

Bale 7 - Lively when he came on. Showed what we have missed. Unlucky not to score.

Lennon 7 - Showed a threat getting forward but became predictable because he was always going to check inside and Wolves knew that too.

Kranjcar 6 - Limited by time so couldnt do a lot but was economical with the ball.

Redknapp 6 - I think he set up the team in the right way and mos would have gone for the same type of formation and tactics at the line up but Bale and Lennon's positions limited their effectiveness when they always had to check inside.

Team 6 - The pitch really didnt help and whilst the attack and midfield worked well the defence was awful as a unit at times and seamed to be defending as individuals

Sandro was man of the match for me. I love that when the ball is hoofed down the middle he will get his head on it. At one point he threw himself in front of the ball took it in the nads, winced and then just kept on trucking. He was very tidy in posession too and his work rate nearly (and really should have) lead to us scoring. I think it is 3 MOM performances in his last 3 starts and if he isn't too tired on Wednesday he should be in the starting 11.

Sandro was MOM. Sure Defoe's goals were great, but he largely vanished in the second half, whereas Sandro worked his socks off throughout. I great talent to be had there in the future IMO.

Pav would only get a figure for scoring, other than that he was only playing for himself and not the team. Thought Jenas was very wasteful and Sandro did extremely well to cover for him. Sandro certainly deserves the MOTM award.

overall entertainment factor 10 for a nuetral 9 for me.

gomes did not inspire confidence which is why our defence sat to deep and invited them on. he is not improving arieally but still is a great shot stopper.

back foor were poor. Doyle was quality and the MOM -

MotM Poll???

Gomes - 5 - Was lost for the first, maybe should have done better for the 3rd. but a great fingertip save onto the post.

Hutton - 2 - It's hard to describe how bad he was. Always allowed a cross to be made, slow in closing the ball. It's a shame we need him so badly at the moment. Lucky to be on the field, defo pen, last man = sending off.

Gallas - 7 - Good when the ball's coming thorugh the centre, questionable with the crosses. Made some excellent tackles though

Daws - 6.5 - Same as Gallas really, but with a little less quality.

BAE - 7 - Did everything asked of him really. Getting more consistant, which is what we've wanted from him.

Pienaar - 6 - just lacked the quality we're used to on the right wing. Wasn't helped by being backed up by Hutton.

Sandro - 8.5 MotM - Tough tackling, good with his distribution. And a little bit of Brazillian fliar!! Should have capped his best game for us with a goal though.

Jenas - 7 - Good with the ball, looks lost without it. Typical JJ really!!

Modric - 7 - Created the usual space & time that we love from him, but it was a bit wasted on the left flank.

Pav - 6.5 - Worked hard at times, drifted in & out of the game. Quality strike!!

Defoe - 8 - Will the doubters shut up now? Class is permenent and all that. Quality strikes, tired as the game went on though. Seems to have lost a yard pace??

Bale - 7 - So good to se him back! Looks a class above, should have scored instead of pulling it back for Defoe. Played on the right though?

Lennon - 7 - Created some chances, same as Bale, his class shone thorugh. Played on the left though?

Kranjcar - 7 - Tried hard to make somthing happen. Was easy for the subs as the game was pretty stretched at that time. Just couldn't get the break thorugh.

Summary.
2 points dropped.

Highs - Sandro, Defoes goals

Lows - Hutton, Gomes, Harry playing Bale & Lennon on the wrong wings

Gomes 5 - Did quite poorly for their first goal. Seems to have more of a problem when the ball is close to him, whereas if it's a good distance away he can often dive and reach it. Thought he did well with the crossing bombardment mostly. Was quite clearly fouled for the disallowed goal - he had both hands on the ball.

Hutton 3 - Really poor. Jarvis is a decent winger but that's all, no real pace. Hutton doesn't seem to be able to read the tricky players very well.

Gallas 6 - Solid first half, took too many risks in the second.

Dawson 5 - Poor again. Is having a problem lately when things get 'busy' inside the box (lots of players, ball bobbling around etc). No excuse for missing the header for the third goal.

BAE 7 - Completely solid defensively. Outjumped Doyle numerous times, and gave them nothing down our left. I don't care that he didn't get forward - that's not his job.

Pienaar 6 - Good workrate and protected Hutton well. Disappointing going forward as his final ball let him down, but clearly a good player and one who offers us options. We looked worse when he came off.

Sandro 8.5 - Another MotM performance. Excellent reading, tackling and distribution. He could do better when he gets forward, but that's about all he can improve on at the moment.

Modric 6 - Disappointing.

Jenas 6 - Supported Sandro well. Made one brilliant run but fluffed his shot.

Pav 6.5 - A good goal (I think Hennessy would've saved it if not for the deflection) and some decent link-up play, but still incredibly lazy and with the touch of a rapist at times. So, so weak as well. Still much better than he's been recently.

Defoe 8 - 2 stunning goals.

Bale 7 - Looked extremely dangerous, but Wolves were giving him lots of space by then.

Lennon 6 - Did ok. Could've offered more threat when he reached the box I think.

Gomes 5 looked shaky and his decision making wasn't great at all
Hutton 4 was asleep for the pen incident, couldn't handle Jarvis
Dawson 5 pretty sloppy performance, Doyle got the better of him
Gallas 5 lost the ball upfield, generally looked off the pace
Ekotto 6 our only defender to emerge with any credit on the day
Pienaar 6 found some nice positions in the first half, but faded in the 2nd
Sandro 8 MOM really impressive again, our only real warrior on the day
Jenas 6 got well forward to set up Pav, didn't close down often enough
Modric 6 not his best day, a victim of his own high standards
Pav 6 great goal, but again just wasn't involved enough throughout
Defoe 7 two belting goals and worked hard closing down from the front
