I wonder if this match thread will get past 3 pages? It appears that the apathy in the squad has well and truly spread to the fans as well as we reach the penultimate game of what has been a disappointing league campaign.

The Official Site Team News:

Alan Hutton has returned to training following a toe injury sustained in last weekend’s draw with Bolton Wanderers and should be available for selection at Reading on Saturday.

The Scottish international was forced off before the start of the second half at The Lane but will make the trip to the Madejski Stadium for this Barclays Premier League clash.

Meanwhile, Ledley King, Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto will all sit out the remaining two games of our season.

Skysports.com Preview:

Reading will be aiming to ease their relegations fears when they welcome Tottenham to the Madejski Stadium.

Steve Coppell's men sit just one point above the drop zone and defeat to Spurs will see them drop into the bottom three.

The Royals have failed to score in their last five games and they will be determined to end that barren run this weekend.

The home side will be without defender Ibrahima Sonko and midfielder Emerse Fae for the game after both were suspended by the club for refusing to play for the reserves and will not feature again this season.

Brynjar Gunnarsson and Jimmy Kebe are both available again after recovering from injury, but Glen Little is doubtful with a calf problem.

Leroy Lita could keep his place in attack after impressing in last weekend's draw with Wigan.

Coppell will wait until the last minute to decide if Kevin Doyle will play after returing to Ireland for a family funeral.

Spurs news

Spurs have little to play for after securing European football for next season by winning the Carling Cup.

Juande Ramos has seen his side draw their last four games and he will be keen to get back to winning ways at Reading as Spurs look to end the season on a high.

Defender Alan Hutton is available after recovering from a toe injury he picked up against Bolton last weekend.

Spurs skipper Ledley King is out for the rest of the season as he recovers from knee surgery.

Full-backs Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) and Gareth Bale (foot) are also long-term absentees.

Dimitar Berbatov will be seeking to maintain his rich vein form against Reading after netting six goals against them already this season, including four goals in the 6-4 victory earlier in the season.

BBC Match Squads (take with a pinch of salt):

hope this is a good one, we need at least a win before the end of the season and keep that mighty 11th position

COYS. It's going to be a pain in the arse not being able to celebrate if we score/win. I might politely clap...

Can't wait for the match though. Hopefully we can rack up a couple of wins to end the season.

Reading won't score today IMO. 0-2 win for the yids today! COYS!

Tosspot Lawrenson has predicted a 2-0 win for Reading on his BBC prediction page.:bs:

I wonder if this match will produce the goals of our previous meetings or will it be yet another 1-1 draw which seems to be the way we are determined to finish this season's campaign.

At least Newcastle wont overtake us this weekend (I hope).

I still don't think 10th is out of the question. All we need to do is win our last 2 games. Can't see West Ham getting anything more than a point in their games against United (A) and Villa (H). Will put us 10th on GD.

Wolves 1 Spurs 2—UEFA CUP FINAL(1st Leg)

An all-English Final disappointed players and supporters, who had both been hoping for further success on foreign fields. Both teams played cautiously and it was as the hour approached that Martin Chivers broke the deadlock with a majestic headed goal from a long free kick taken by Mike England. Wolves equalised from a quick free-kick, twelve minutes later and Spurs were under pressure until Chivers awoke from his ‘famed’ lethargy and collected the ball out wide and headed for goal to crash home a shot from thirty yards—a goal worthy of any final.

Team: Jennings; Kinnear, Knowles; Mullery (Captain), England, Beal; Gilzean, Perryman, Chivers, Peters, Coates (Pratt).

Can't see much good coming from this one I'm afraid. Reading need a win desperately and certain members of our team packed up about 4 weeks ago. Sadly we don't have anyone good to replace them so we'll be stuck with the same lethargic nonsense we've had for the past few games.

Draw at best although I hope I'm wrong and they finally show some bloody spirit.

Agreed. This is their last home game of the season and they are within 4 points or so of guaranteed safety.

I see us getting a draw at best sadly.

That was one hell of a night for a 16 year old, still at school then !

The whole end was full of Spurs fans and the place rocked.

The 2nd leg at home was a bit of an anti-climax after that.

Bent will come on as substitute for Keane and we will draw 1:1.

It's deja vu all over again Rodney...
