I think we should just pay bale whatever he can get elsewhere and keep him for life. Probably less expensive and risky than converting his sale price into equivalent quality for the team, and their salaries.

Whilst the figures being thrown around are very high, we need to remember that if we get say 60m for Bale, we shouldn't expect to therefore bring in 3 x 20m players. There is a large chunk of "overheads" that are paid in every deal, agent fees, player signing-on fees etc.
There is also the wages.... even if we blew our wage structure and gave Bale 120k p/w.... the 3 x 20m players will want at least 80k p/w.... so the total wage would be double!!

So realistically I would expect us to spend 2/3 of what we receive for Bale, a realistic example would be Moutinho & Damaio replacing Bale. You can decide for yourselves if you would be happy with that.

I think they should give us back Modric just for the chance to speak to Levy, who would then tell them to fuck off.

are Soton due a cut of any Bale fee if we ever sell him?

I don't think so. Pretty sure Levy took advantage of a spot of financial trouble they were in a couple of years ago, and offered to pay a lump sum that nullified the original terms of the contract, instead of a potentially larger amount spread over a longer period.

Levy'd.

Hurts to say it, but Gareth would be daft to turn down Madrid. He is good enough for them, and would only get better.

Imagine Bale and Ronaldo in the same team.
