4th in the league and a trophy should be the lowest goal.

EDIT:

Those of you giving me an 'optimistic' rating - do you think our target should be to finish 5th or lower and not to win a trophy?

Based on Trix info at 0630 this morning I think we need to be patient as DL is going full DL this summer, which timing wise is awful given what we need but in reality he is fully justified in doing it given the state of the world right now. I assume that there’s nowhere to discuss this ITK because a bunch of ****s just HAD to discuss our squad depth, our quality, our previous transfer mistakes, who is or isn’t in their prime, etc.

Top 3 you can forget about imo.

We have an outside chance of 4th, but realistically I would be surprised if we finished higher than 6th.

Maybe Jose can get us over the line for a cup.

Christ, it’s like the Spurs of 15 years ago.... except my ST is disproportionately more expensive.

I don't agree that he's fully justified at all. The pandemic has been going on since March, José, we are told, has identified very realistic / gettable players and we've had offers for two players he wants out.

His insistent haggling over fees costs us season after season in not being able to sell players (Wanyama and Jansen being prime examples). It means he pisses off other chairmen, slows down our recruitment process, stops us being on the front foot on the pitch for game 1, pisses off our own manager and ultimately may cost us more in lost revenue from the CL.

I'm not saying just sell them at the first bid but this is a recurring theme. And if he feels he's got burnt on TN well he's on that transfer committee. Apparently José wants that DoF but does Levy? Transfer wise we've been pretty much appalling since 2016.

Everything you say is predicated on the José expecting Levy to do things at all different to how he always has. For this to be the case, Jose would have to be an idiot. He is not an idiot.

Agreed.

Most of us aren't expecting 50m+ signings, it's not what we need right now anyway.

The non HG quota is an issue, certainly. However, I really can't understand why we can't make sensible signings in the 20-30m range. We are being linked to some good options but it feels like the club are completely refusing to over exert themselves, even if doing so boosts our chances of top 4.

Callum Wilson, Max Aarons, Celik, Doherty etc - these aren't players we should be having troubles affording. Yet, here we are, letting things drag and running the risk of not being prepared for the new season.

Hojbjerg is a very good signing and Hart is a sensible addition but you can't judge our window on that as they are probably 2 of the easiest signings to get completed.

This is the period where things typically get stressful as a Spurs fan in the window. A promising start, then the messages of 1 in 1 out begin, then we get told Levy wants too much for those he's trying to sell, all the whilst time is being wasted on getting these players into the team and training.

Jose will put up with it this window because of COVID but he'll soon lose patience if it happens the next window

You're right - he's not an idiot. He's a very smart man. And he's compromised with a very gettable list of players and he's expecting Levy to compromise too and get them in. Surely we can *at least* get a right back and back up striker in before the season starts. That is not a big expectation at all.

Agree with everything you've said here. It's totally reasonable to expect the club to buy mid range priced players to complete our squad. We're actually really close to having a very good side and squad...it is frustrating.

Unless you have full access to Mourinho and Levy’s conversations, you cannot possibly know what timeframes and conditions were put in place when agreeing on transfer targets.

1) City
2) Pool
3) Utd
4) Chelsea
5) Arse
6) Spurs
7) Leeds
Leeds 7th hahahah.

A lot of leeds fans are putting there money in that.

Mind both us and Arsenal are 50/1. Those are pretty tasty odds.

Personally, I think your time would be better spent setting fire to some money in your garden :D

No for sure. But 50/1 is much higher than the reality. What it's saying is if we were to play next season 50 times we would win once. I think its less than that. 30/1 or something.

Realistically see us finishing somewhere between 6th & 8th with the squad as it currently stands.....Liverpool & Man City are over the horizon, Chelsea & Man U to complete the top 4 with Arsenal, Wolves, Liecester & us battling for Europa positions....
