realistic jan signing to make difference??

transfer window soon upon us. Surely we are searching for a striker and defender and linked to all sorts and with harry saying today , pint of salt time! that he expects quiet january i just feel a couple of signings and we will really be looking the part. With alot of home winnable games in january the confidence and momemtum a couple of signings and wins would do would be amazing i feel.... the old saying of buying while your winning surely is never more aparent....but who could we get?

as good as adebayor is and what he brings i just feel we need someone else of his elk... if he was to get injured we wud be stuck with defoe and vdv and the ball simply does not stick with defoe and does not offer same presence, power or threat... that is bottom line so we are relying on adebayor to saty fit for alot of games

I cant see really where we could improve using our restricted budget.

Keepers - all 3 are premoership quality.
Defence is looking strong with Dawson & Gallas on there way back..
Midfield - over resourced, If sandro cant get many games..wheres the hudd gonna fit in!
Strikers - Not sure defoe could play lone man if ade got injured whch is my only real worry.

All in all we have a great squad and I dont think we will sign anyone other than maybe Cahill - although I can see chelsea going for him.

Jesus Christ no! Not only is he vastly overrated but due to the pure fact he is home-grown we would have to end up paying £20m for him!

In answer to the OP, I really cant see any more than a Leandro type signing, with Gallas, Dawson and Bassong as cover for Ledley and Unit, I don't think we really need another CB. And again certainly not a Gary Cahill for far more money than he is worth.

I think we should be making moves to secure Adebayor permanently, although I wouldn't expect us to wrap it up in January. Otherwise I think its just some like for like replacements and more culling of dead wood.

Sell Pav, look to get in a replacement. I haven't seen enough of Leandro Damiao to be sure he is the man, but that kind of player - young, talented, be happy to sit and wait for six months while he adapts and settles, but can still do a job when asked. If they can play as a target man then perfect.

Probably best to sell Gio as well, then secure good loan moves for some of the young uns and look for more youngsters to bring in.

Apart from the one striker in for Pav, I dont see us making any big moves in January.
