Realistically how long will we keep hold of him?

This is AVB, from the OS: "Like all of our key players, Gareth is on a long-term contract as we continue to build for the future and his progression will be of benefit to our team. He is an important part of our future and we have no intention of letting any of our top players go."

After he intimated very recently we may struggle to hold on to Bale, do you think someone has had a word in his shell, like? The wording of that smacks of a Levy/Cullen concoction to me....

From inter game onwards we have 3 years to replace him (should he leave); so unless there is no one out there with similar ability/potential over 3 years then our scouts/Levy has failed miserably. Deserves the sack.

I honestly think he will gone in the summer.

What annoyed me yesterday was there were more songs for Lennon than for Bale and when he had the own goal we should have backed him

We need to show our love more for a player in top 5 in the world. The guy is unstoppable and he wears a Spurs shirt. The last time we had such a jewel was Gazza but we paid for him. When we were rich. This lad has been dropped on our doorstep. Quite possibly the best we have ever had. Ever. Greaves was probably better but I never saw him play. If Levy was smart he would see this and build a team around him and a team to win the league and then the cl.

He is possibly the best player in the prem but he cant do it alone. We could get 50m for him but how could we replace him?

I think him and his agent have got it all mapped out. Learn his trade in the PL and then go to Barca and Real at 25ish for his prime years.

In many ways, his wanting to go to one of them means we're probably not suseptible to losing him to United or Citeh, because it would be harder for him to get his dream move from there.

can't see him moving to another english club. He'll probably end up at barca - and he has already said he would like to play there some day, or to that effect. And he's way above average inteligence for a footballer so I doubt he's gonna choose to go to a shitty club like city for the money.

I don't see him going Barca, they bought a similar positioned player in Sanchez and it's not really worked out for him as of yet; he hasn't hit the potential he was expected to.

Barcelona aren't about the direct runs which are so integral to Bale's game. He suits RM style so much more; except the problem lies in Ronaldo has the LW role locked down.

He is a wonderful player and he could have gone abroad last year or even the year before if it was all about the money but he's stayed loyal so far. Get CL next year and there's a chance he'll give us one more year but sooner or later a player as good as him wants to be winning things. I hope that's with us but if we fall short again who can blame him if he goes to Barcelona?

Hopefully the rumours of Ronaldo wanting to leave aren't true then, because if he does I can see Bale being top of the list. Although nowhere near the goal theat of Ronaldo he'd still get quite a few goals and lay them on a plate for the likes of Higuain and Benzema.

It's the only team in mainland Europe I can see him going for, PSG is possible but the league there isn't as good as he comes across as a guy who wants to challenge for things rather than get a pay packet.

The only club in England I can see him leaving for is Man Utd, Fergie has always wanted him as a Giggs successor.

We will keep him for another season at least.. even if it means Levy gives him the ol' 'gentlemen's agreement'..

Yes, Imitation Ronaldo was probably in the back of my mind when I said Barca seems a more natural fit. Still, Imitation Roanldo will be near the dreaded 30 mark in a couple of yrs so who knows. The greasy one has the talent to play in any position he damn well pleases anyway so Bale would find a spot if he moved there.

Either way, he'll land on his feet. Madrid is a lush city anyway. Not to mention 150K a week paycheck.

The poor bastard.

They no longer have the money to compete for him, imo. Sure, more than enough to prise him away from the likes of ickle old us but he'll have the RM's et al after him. No chance, imo.

Finish 4th, win the UEFA and the FA Cup and he'll give us another year. I'm still gutted a team that consisted of King, Modric, Bale and VDV didn't win a trophy with us. Even the fizzy pop cup would've done.
