Reasons why you....

My username came about 10 years ago.

I was off to the US of A for the summer to do Camp America and I needed an email address. Went on to Yahoo and tried to set one up using the username ‘MonkeyWanKenobi’ as I love Star Wars and monkeys so I thought I would have a funny mash up of a Star Wars characters name with monkey in there somewhere.

It was however already taken, so I tried about ten different characters names with monkey in them. They were all taken. Getting pissed off I even tried ScoobyDoosSweatyBollocks as a username, only to find that was taken as well.

Thought about it a bit more and decided that instead of being a Jedi Master, I would probably be a Jedi Monkey as I’m always fucking about instead of being serious, and I reckon that would probably be the lowest rank a Jedi could achieve.

Put jedimonkey with my first name on the end and Yahoo finally allowed it. I now have the same username for Hotmail and Gmail so that no one else can have it.

For the sake of writing on forums though I just use jedimonkey.

My avatar is a picture of Optimus Prime wearing a Spurs shirt. I love Transformers and love Spurs. Would have preferred a picture of Prime from the original cartoon, but couldn’t find a decent one of him front on.

I picked sim0n because it's non-descript and not my real name. I picked that Klinsmann photo for my avatar because he was my favorite Spurs player in the contemporary era.

But, it's my signature that I like. My great-grandfather played for Spurs, was their top scorer at the time, unfortunately died at 29 whilst still a starting player, and is buried in Tottenham Cemetery. His headstone faces the stadium and I always visit for luck before every game I've been fortunate enough to attend. Spurs have won every game I've attended at WHL when I visited his grave first. My signature includes a photo of his Western League champions medal (watch fob) from the 1903-04 season, team photo of that side, and a picture of his headstone.

username is a nickname I got in the last few years; it started by me adding the suffix -roos on to the end of a buddy's surname, after a Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper, Walter Watterus. He did the same with my surname; then the surname got dropped and I became roosh.

The avatar is self explanatory really - never really used an avatar before, so didn't have one in mind, so just decided to use a picture of whichever player my post count warranted.

Oh and my username came about because at the time of registration my then girlfriend had hired a DVD from blockbusters called Anger Management with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, being unable to think of anything on the spot I simply copied that name (as I wasn;t expecting to be a frequent poster anyway as I rarely used the internet)

The current avatar is a pic of Van Persie playing for Man City in the hope it will both curse him for this season magically somehow and bring about his transfer away from the Goons

Jax Darrke was the main character in the first novel I wrote when I was in school, and it was just at the time I started using the internet a lot. I think my account here was one of the first I got on any forum, so darrke+spur=darrkespur. It's now my default account name everywhere.

I've had other stuff published since (some short stories, a bunch of reviews and articles), but that novel is still sat shelved in a drawer somewhere. I hope one day to resurrect the character!

To be honest he isn't my favourite Transformers, but I couldn't find a picture of Ultra Magnus or Mirage that I liked, so I went for the one that I could put a Spurs shirt on the easiest in Paint.
