As gutted as the next person we didn't make the CL this year.

But you know what? Fucking well done Spurs. We have accumulated a tremendous points tally and done ourselves proud in the process.

Excellent first year for AVB and I truly see us going from strength to strength.

And hey, we will have a good chance of actually winning the Europa. :)

I agree to some extent but still have the massive sense that yet again we let ourselves down and bottled easy games.

Once again we let our rivals claw back a significant lead.

I want nothing to do with the Europa next season...waste of time...complete distraction and we do not have the depth of quality in the squad to take it serious.

Its a nothing trophy....I wish we were not even in it tbh.

True, it's a valid point. But arguably Arsenal, and Chelsea to an extent, can say likewise. Both those teams will feel they should've done better and compared to us maybe they should've. It's unrealistic to assume that you'll never make mistakes, or drop points in a silly way. If we can limit our tendency to throw points away then we will be in a much greater position.

This.

But AVB will persist in playing full strength in away trips to Moscow etc

Fulham and home and letting Wigan take 5 points off stands out. 4th should have been ours again this year.

At the beginning of the season if you had told me that we would finish fifth I would have taken that as we had a new manager with a new system to implement and we had lost three of our best players whose replacements, whilst good, weren't of the same quality. Obviously as the season progressed and it looked as though fourth, even third at one point, was a possibilty then my expectations grew and changed. So yes it is gutting we didn't make CL this year, with the revenue and prestige it would bring which would help us seem more attractive to possible signings but I am going to focus on the positives. We just finished the season with a record points hall, we have an excellent new manager who Levy must back in the summer to help us push on and finally leapfrog Arsenal and become CL regulars and genuine competitors to the likes of Man U. Gareth Bale I am convinced will stay and help us get that fourth, third or second placed spot.

Yeah, I do agree with those 2 games. I also think our Liverpool away game was a bit of a killing point too, but that's was all around the same time. Nonetheless, we're still not the only team to drop silly points. We just need to learn to do it less.

Record points haul.

I would also say record low for league defeats (8).

Well, we have improved on last season by 2 points... So next season, 74 points and only 7 defeats please.

I'll echo this.

Points total is meaningless go me though.

The bit that annoys me is that we never really dropped off this season, we were consistently up there in the form guide and then the scum decide they wanna be like the invincibles on steroids...

I'm proud to say we didn't choke and we were ousted by two teams who went on incredible runs.

Well fucking done you Spurs, and well fucking done AVB.

Everton away was a kick in the nuts too. But more good than bad this season. Next year we try to improve, win more games at home, try to kill games off earlier to keep key players fresh (when did we last sub Bale with a big lead) and go for 80 points. I think that is a realistic Target for this group without any squad changes.

Look at us and scum ten years ago and where we are now. We're on the rise, they're on the decline.

Bale papered over some cracks mind.

Agree. Now AVB has his foot firmly in the door he has a lot of time to sit down with the DOF and Levy and organise a plan of action for next year -inc getting the right players in. No excuses now.

Very unlucky to miss out with that points tally. I would have bitten your hand off if you offered us that at the start of the season. A lot of unforgettable moments this year like winning at Old Trafford, beating Inter 3-0 and Bale's last minute winner after winner. I would have liked to have seen better football and less reliance on Bale than we've shown this season. Still, a few good signings and Bale staying and we'll be very dangerous next year. I just hope we can get the summer right for a change.

Think finishing 5th will help DL pull his finger out and spend some cash, if we got 4th he may have thought about not spending as much as we got the spot we wanted with the players that were already there.
