Harry Redknapp has confessed that he does not have any faith in reserve goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez.
First choice stopper Heurelho Gomes injured his groin in last week's 1-0 defeat to Wigan and the problem has yet to clear up.
Despite the injury Gomes has continued between the sticks after Redknapp selected him for the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on Sunday.
The injury is so bad that the former PSV stopper has to rely on his defenders to take goal-kicks for him.
Cesar, who is on loan from Zaragoza in Spain, has made just one appearance for Spurs this season when he came off the bench in the Carling Cup win over Liverpool.
The 61-year-old's lack of faith in his number two means that he is likely to step up his search for a reserve goalkeeper this week.
"It's an area I'm looking at," he said.
"I'm looking for someone who is good enough for the first team when you need him.
"If I had confidence in the Spanish goalkeeper, I would have played him."

these comments are shocking, looks very honest !
it is clear that why he kept picking Gomes despite he isn't injuried
can't see him using Cesar vs Burnley ..

didn't see him to be honest, but Ramos didn't rate him to be backup, first he used Jansson ( the young GK ) for some games in pre-season. Then he he tried to get Baywater then brought Cesar.

I think Harry is saying Cesar Salad aint even good enough for the bench and a crocked Gomes is better than Alnwick!

These comments, much like the ones he made about Bent's miss are absolutely disgraceful and show a complete lack respect from Redknapp to the professionals that he is meant to represent. Could you EVER imagine Fergie or Wenger coming out with open criticism and blame for his own players? I dont see Levy slagging Redknapp off for picking a shite team for the last four weeks, but if that did happen, you could bet your bottom dollar that Redknapp would be resigning in a heartbeat.

I dont know how things got done in the 'old school' that everyone is so keen to point out as the place Harry came from, but in modern day football these actions are totally unnacceptable and if i was a player, id be worried that it going to be me next to face the public wrath if i made an honest mistake. Add to the fact that Redknapp's career reeks of the word average and im suprised that he even rates himself highly enough to come out and make statements like this, because quite frankly its embarassing.

Why are we paying for a player we won't play?

And if we want to sell him why say he is crap, are we trying to give him away?

I like the honesty though, although not very respectful.

Whilst I do agree that it is shocking that these comments are made public, Poyet and Redknapp have both blasted our players accusing them of being unprofessional. Ramos has been quiet about it, but we all know he's the gentleman type. If this is true about the players, then they deserve every bit of humiliation.

Oh FFS… Twenty appearances and a CL spot in five years for Real means what, precisely? Jack shit.

But of course you've had the privilege of seeing him in action in training and know better than Twitchy—I mean, you wouldn't venture this opinion otherwise, would you?

Well, we know he couldn't speak English, although I'm sure if he'd come out with 'X eez un cabron!' we'd have got the general drift.

But SS57, the issue is not really whether Cesar, or any other player, is great good or crap. Surely it is that the manager should not be slagging his players in public. (Nor adding to the cost of any replacement.) Any rockets, if that was it was, should be delivered in private. Such public comments about players, and Harry seems to have made a number, can only serve to demoralise the team/squad.

Some fans seems to be thinking along the lines of 'good Old 'Arry', telling the overpaid bastard players what for!' Hurrah!

I'm begining to suspect it's "a they are bunch of crap who I didn't want and it's not my fault if we go down" situation. Sorry, but I feel that a boss/manager should have really good reasons to ream his people out in public. Especially, when that individual has not been given a chance to perform.

Ramos did a very good job of demoralising the squad in private. Is there a huge difference?

A couple of years ago we had a major Bateman cartoon moment when Jol, ever so mildly, suggested that Defoe might, well, you, know, care to earn his crust by scoring the odd goal now and again. Cue shock horror responses from the JDFC—'How dare Jol criticise our darling Jermain!'.

And really, what Twitchy's said is very mild compared to the shit doled out about our players on a daily basis on here. The hypocrisy stinks.

Harry Redknapp, no matter how bad a situation he has inherited, doesn't help himself. Sometimes I really think he should keep his mouth shut and refrain from saying stuff like this. What good does it do? What's the point in being so overtly critical of his own players? How does it help?

I honestly didn't complain with the fact that Ramos couldn't even talk through the press. It wasn't one of the reasons why I disliked him. But Redknapp, fuck me, he really does get on my nerves with how much lets out in public.

If it fires them up, it helps. I thought he went overboard on Bent and totally ignored his fave rave Defoe's misses—which, if not quite as bad as Bent's, were pretty bad—but, if it gives Bent a point to prove and he proves it as a result, is anyone going to complain?
