Now Newcastle must win at Everton to have any chance of catching us, and Arsenal cannot play for a draw at West Brom either - if we win at home, a loss or a draw for Arsenal gives us third place.

You may not like the performance, and it was not up to par, but every point means something this late and this close.

But it si just not true - because we got a point today the Goons absolutely must win in order to be certain of 3rd; without that point and the Goons could play for a draw, which would, actually, be much more in their favour.

I'm all for gung-ho optimism, but this is just a fact, and I can't argue against it.

I would much prefer to win the two final games then it doesn't matter what anyone does, now we have to rely on WBA doing us a favour.

I'm explaining how getting a point today gives us a better chance of finishing third than losing would have.
