No, now if Arsenal draw and we beat Fulham we go 3rd. If we'd lost, it would have come down to goal difference, and theirs is better
Only if we beat Fulham by 2 goals or more and Fulham aren't the walkovers there were in previous seasons.

No, if Arsenal draw they're on 68. We're on 66, so if we win, by whatever score, we will have 69, and take third

If we'd lost today, it would have come down to goal difference and, as you say, that wouldn't be great

Now Newcastle must win at Everton to have any chance of catching us, and Arsenal cannot play for a draw at West Brom either - if we win at home, a loss or a draw for Arsenal gives us third place.

You may not like the performance, and it was not up to par, but every point means something this late and this close.

Can we really expect Arse to screw up one more time though? How many chances do we need. I know the Woy factor may help us but we would be very very lucky to get another chance.

If they win then it doesn't matter what we do we can't come third. Two wins= third place.

Yeah, I know that. Wasn't what I said tho, was it. People were saying if Arsenal draw we're done, and that's not true

Actually fancy WBA to get a point, but have no faith in us beating a Jol-inspired Fulham

The problem is, though that some folk are saying there was no difference between drawing and losing and so Redknapp should have really went for it, instead he sent Parker on. But it si just not true - because we got a point today the Goons absolutely must win in order to be certain of 3rd; without that point and the Goons could play for a draw, which would, actually, be much more in their favour.

I'm all for gung-ho optimism, but this is just a fact, and I can't argue against it.

Whatever happened today my belief is that we needed to win. Now a point is always better than a loss but the most frustrating thing for me and many others is that even with ten men Villa were there for the taking, they were happy to play for a point even though they are in relegation trouble and playing against ten men. I would much prefer to win the two final games then it doesn't matter what anyone does, now we have to rely on WBA doing us a favour.

I agree.
I'm not explaining what I wanted to happen.
I'm explaining how getting a point today gives us a better chance of finishing third than losing would have.
