Do you think Button is ready to step up to the first team squad?

Yes but as no 3 goalkeeeper, but think he needs to play some of the pe-season matches next season to do that. Experienced goalkeeper now with lower league clubs so would not be surprised by their quality of strikers/other players taking shots against him in domestic cups and clubs we would meet in group stages of Europa Leuague.

Very few premiership loans for goalkeepers in Preemiership history (think only Hart at Birmingham and Foater at Watford and WBA) so may need to take a chance if gk coach thinks he is good enough.

Young goalkeepers coming through :

David Button (23), Jordan Archer (19), Jonathan Miles (19) Lawrence Vigeroux (18), Billy Granger (17), Luke McGee (16), Liam Priestly 16) - last 2 will join Academy Year 1 next season

Not short of good candidates at GK
The only keepers that i'd heard of out of the youngsters coming through were Button, Jansson, Ranieri and Alnwick.

I thought Jansson and Ranieri were both thought to be very promising players a couple of years ago. Obviously they haven't impressed so much if we've let their contracts run down. Of course all these lads are just babies in goalkeeper terms though.

Button sounds like the most promising of the young keepers. He's probably at a good age for a number 3 keeper now, although it would be much better for him to continue getting games out on loan.

What we really need is a goalkeeper in his prime now, somewhere between Cudicini/Friedel and Button. I expect Gomes to leave once he recovers from his injury.

Kuszczak to United, Carson to Aston Villa, Howard to Everton and Foster to WBA

After Button, Jordan Archer is the current next best hope to be a first team goalkeeper - but with GK's developing later than outfield players we have to be looking at 4-5 years before he is at a similar level to Button.

For a no 1 spot gk the only real option today is to buy - but if Button can play well thios season, do not rule him out of becoming no 2 in 2 season's time, as BBLG says he could quite easily become a good Preemiership goalkeeper.

I was about to say 'wow' on your knowledge - but then you added you were bored so I suspect Wiki. Why didn't I think of looking there !

Still not that many Prem 'youth' loans for gaolkeepers though

scharner at WBA and Rodallega are rather surprising as well. I suppose they ran down their contracts to get a bosman. They'll be bargains for some team. Can imagine Everton going for them and doing quite well.

surprised bolton released
Jaaskelainen

Rejected a new contract I believe, not surprising seeing as he isnt first choice anymore.

As for Button, said last summer that he should be promoted to No.3 keeper, but the problem is he needs competitive games to keep developing which if he is No.3 isnt going to happen. Maybe the solution would be to keep him around early part of the season and play him in the cup and Europa games and look to loan him out in January?

So Tottenham have released:

Alnwick, Jansson, King, Lassen, Nelsen, Oyenuga, Ranieri, Saha.

King released as player but hopefully retained in our bootroom (coaching with view to management) very surprised by Jansson the goal keeper I liked the look of him as a keeper.

Perfectly possible - but as before where to get experience ? Not that many premiership loans (but maybe a vacancy at wba he could go to) so alternative is Championship which would be ok but not take him that much further forward.

Yeh that would be the problem, it would have to be top-end of the Championship I would say. Half a season with us training day in day out with international players and learning from them, showing what he can do in the cup games and then half a season playing week in week out at a promotion chasing Championship club still wouldnt be a bad season for him IMO.

A journo on twitter: @lustdoctor:

Spurs just told me: "The list released by the Premier League today merely states those players yet to agree a contract for next season...."

Spurs: "It does not mean that they have been released on a free transfer."

Spurs: "Ledley is a prime example of this and our web story with him today clearly explains the latest on his situation."

Spurs: "Once there is news on the contract situations of any other players whose deals also expire on June 30......"

Spurs: "... then we will make this public on our website."

Could do worse than bring in Jussi as a backup should we lose Carlo, Gomes and Alnwick (thank fuck). Dependent on wages obviously.

I wonder if Arry will be looking at that list for an experienced CB, potentially losing/getting rid of: Nelsen, King, Gallas. Cuellar is the only CB that really jumps out from the list and not really sure Arry would opt for him even as backup.

I actually would not be 100% opposed to Kalou coming in if we are looking at getting rid of Gio, Bentley and Niko. But only if and it is a big if someone better isn't lined up. Would prefer to keep Niko obviously!
