Right everyone, here's the situation with our squad as much as I'm aware of it at the moment:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkGaJ1uZSVNadGpBeDhBVkRRaGhsc29WUEt6SlgtZkE

For those of you that are interested this sheet contains the squads of every Premier League club and those relegated in the last two seasons:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkGaJ1uZSVNadE8xeENDRU5mdkhjdU9jS2RiamlxVUE

Players showing 2012 in the contract column are those that have been offered new deals and therefore haven't officially been released yet.

Jon,

Impressive detail as always, Couple of snippets for you :

Lawrence Vigoroux was 18 in May (a few weeks ago)
Joshua MacDonald is an Australian under 16 striker who was on trial here (circa March 2012), not sure of outcome (your row 46, he is shown as an RM)
Liam Priestly is pretty much the same age as McGee so 16 going on 17
Aaron McEneff, a NI u 17 central midfield player will also join Academy Year 1 (local paper report)

Just realised we both missed one off the list :
Giancarlo Galifuoco, Australian u 16/17 CB/CM, dob 12/1/94 signed contract for 2 and half years in Jan 2012 (allegedly ?!)

Well spotted mate, cheers. And he's definitely got a contract to June 2014.

Made the changes suggested and got more details about Lukas Stergiou (not Lucas Sergio as I had him), another Aussie.

Ramel Sheriff said on twitter that he hasnt been released and the only way he will leave is if he is transferred so he seems confident hes staying!

Interesting! He hadn't signed a contract up to last week and he wasn't on the list of players that had their Academy status extended. Just wish the official site was better at providing updates - it'd save all this!

Have Saha and Nelson definetly been released i havent seen anything on the official site for ssn?

Nothing has been announced on OS so its all ITK - although Waller-Lassen has confirmed by Twitter that he is moving on so its a strong probability that at least most is correct.

With the academy players having a 2 year contract/scholarship, they either are offered a pro contract, a 3rd year academy....or they need to bend a coach's ear very strongly because otherwise when the 2 year academy contract/scholarship ends they leave.

Some more notes; Aaron McEneff's former club is 'Institute,' not Derry City. Never played for Derry. Giancarlo Gallifuoco's former club is AIS, the Australian Institute of Sport.

Pretty sure Maguraushe was on trial and he's still a Luton player. I've got McEneff as 7/9/95 - not sure which is right!

I've updated the sheet now with qualification for the NextGen and Premier Academy League squads.

NextGen rules are 18 players in each squad. At least 15 must be born on or after 1 Jan 1994 (shown as 'Yes' in the sheet) and 3 can be born after 1 Jan 1993 (shown as OA for over age in the sheet).

Premier Academy League rules are that players must be born on or after 1 September 1994 (shown as 'Yes' in the sheet) except three oufield players and one goalkeeper who can be born on or after 1 September 1993 (shown as OA in the sheet).

http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2012/teams/player=250042795/index.html McEneff shown as 9/7/95 - but transpositions and US v European dates can be a problem.

Agreed but rules are ambiguous - it could be a squad in each game or squad for Tournament - Spurs seem to apply as squad for each match last seasoin

Premier Academy League rules are that players must be born on or after 1 September 1994 (shown as 'Yes' in the sheet) except three oufield players and one goalkeeper who can be born on or after 1 September 1993 (shown as OA in the sheet).

But is he better than Cudicini who looked the dogs b*****cks at Clesea pre-Cech, whereas Guzan has played 8 games for A Villa, then allowed to go on loan to Hull for 3 months, returned to AVilla and then back to Hull on an emergency loan before being released.

On paper he looks a good proposition at 27 and no 2 US goalkeeper, but a surprise he didn't make more impact at A Villa (but noting Freidel and Given are good GK's)

I'm only suggesting it because he's available on a free, might be worth a gamble sticking him in a few Europa and League Cup games and seeing how he gets on, I doubt at his age he really wants to warm the bench, but Friedel must be a draw for him, being a fellow American and having probably only a season or two left in him. Cudicini isn't going to go on much longer either and I have no idea what the plan is with Gomes.
