kitson is a good shout whether relegated or not - especially if Berbs goes

you'd be surpised how many dismiss it. He's spurs mental. he'd bleed carrot orange blood for us and as a sub he'll get front row seats to watch his team. It think he'd be an ideal 4th striker...given that a real top notch striker can't work as as 4th (defoe being the example)

I would say Nicky Shorey, but hopefully left back is sorted anyway. I still wouldn't mind Giles Barnes, I think he's got plenty of potential. Perhaps Zarate. I wouldn't say that there are any real stand out players in the teams... probably why they are getting relegated...

Hi triks :) trust me I wouldn't be surprised - I've railed long hard and often (oo er :) on here about the ridiculous snobbery that goes on re players like Barry (remember when we could have probably bought him for about £6m) Jagielka Ashley Young, Bentley and many another

but yep as you say for a 4th or even a 3rd striker if Berbs go he's a real possibility

I've certainly had enough of 3rd/4th strikers like Bent and Defoe causing endless problems (and I'm not blaming them, it's just the way it all gets exagerrated in the media etc etc)

BErbs Keane Bent Kitson great - or Bent Keane Kitson and someone like Lee Barnard would do me fine too (seems like Pekhart is too much of a risk)

When injuries/suspensons strike there's no need always to play 4-4-2 - players like Bent and Kitson are perfectly capable of playing lone striker

Jaaskelainen is in no way an improvement on Robbo, he hasn't had the best of seasons, possibly worse than Robbo's....... and who says a defense doesn't make the difference ;)

Are you all mad.....
Kitsons great, if you want to finish mid table.
Do any of you actually want this club to move forward??

I agree - I like Kitson, especially as he's a Spurs fan but IF Berba goes we need to be looking for replacements of a similar quality. If we are aspiring to the Champions League we need top 4 quality, not relegation.

In previous seasons there have been teams relegated who have been 'too good to go down' and we have done very well in the bargain basement eg when spammers went down. This year they all deserve to go down and we don't need that sort of quality in our squad.

Jimmy Bullard would be great to have around the place and he has a wonderful never-say-die attitude which would make him a useful sub, but no more than that. Kenwynne Jones is the only one really worth pursuing - big, strong, intelligent - class.

We were asked who we would cherry pick but at no point did anyone suggest they would be in the first 11... in fact if you read carefully just about everyone to a man who has mentioned squad status for these choices have said back up. In the specific case of Kiston for example, he's been firmly placed in the 4th striker catergory.

The idea that not one of the players in the relegation teams is good enough for a squad place at a higher team is silly. you tried to put a west ham one off get out clause but West ham are not an exception. For christ sakes a squad memeber from our own 5th placed finish last year, plays for Derby. Lescott was mid table championship last term, Davies was at play-off failures westbrom...

It's nonsense and does you no credit to throw a blanket over all the players in the teams getting relegated. Almost as little credit as posting accusations of us promoting Kitson to fill berbatovs boots, when we quite clearly posted in English (all be it spelt iffily) that we consider him a good punt for a 4th striker.

There is something depressing about suggesting the likes of Jones, Miller and Kitson if Berba goes but this is an interesting thread. I would add, Meite and maybe Diouf (I know he seems like a twat but excellent player with good delivery and decent finisher).

what makes you think any of these would do a job after being sat on the bench for six months?

we've got idiots on here who reckon Darren Bent is shit because he can't play like Berbatov during a 20 minute run out. All strikers mentioned in this thread are average at best, even after playing the majority of games this season, what are they gonna be like as 4th strikers for god sake?

Bent can't even get a game, why do we need a 4th striker? It didn't work this year & it didn;t work last year either.

What profile of player would you have as a 4th striker?

Would anyone be interested in Kevin Davies from bolton as a sub? or even Jimmy Bullard from Fulham as a squad player(better than some of our midfielders on the bench)? Zarate is looking like a talented young lad worth snapping up and loaning out to a newly promoted side, Barnes would want a starting role so i guess he'll go to another promoted side next season.

edit: any players i mention would only be subs/back up or squad players at best.

Only just posted in a similar thread about Davies. I think, as a 3rd/4th choice he'd be quite an asset.
