Rescheduled Stoke Game

As you may have seen on the OS, thanks to Stoke progressing in the FA Cup, our home game against them on the 17th March is now being rescheduled.

I had tickets for this and presumably now will have to get them refunded as there are no gaps in the schedule to move it to another weekend. It's also less than ideal given our replay against Stevenage will already mean the team have to play 3 games in two days around that time.

Has the FA Cup always been this poorly thought out? I always presumed there were FA Cup weekends set aside, at the very least up until the semis.

Anyway, rant over. Annoyed and wanted to vent.

The FA Cup has always been like this. League fixtures have always been scheduled on FA Cup Quarter Final weekend.

Better planning needed buddy!

 That seems particularly harsh on us

Works well for me. I'm due to be away on the 17th so would have missed the Stoke game, but now it'll be moved and I'll be able to go. Means I can't go to the quarter final (if we get there) but I'm saving for the Wembley trips anyway.

As for the scheduling in general, I too thought that there were allocated weekends for the FA Cup. Not quite sure what happened to that. Considering there is likely to be 7 premiership teams in the quarter finals it seems a bit daft not to schedule it in.

Whoops, my mistake! 2 in 3, you know what I meant! We have United on the Saturday then Stevenage on Tuesday.

Exactly. They must be expecting massive fixture pile up every year.

To be fair, they ought to put a disclaimer on fixtures that could be dependent upon FA Cup qualification. The Stoke game actually sold pretty quickly and I was only able to get seats in the East Upper towards the end of the Lilywhite priority period, there will be a lot of people cancelling their tickets now I reckon.

Anyone got tickets refunded before? Is it just a case of ringing the ticket office up, and will I have to wait for the new date to be announced first?

Think they already do mate

This is at the bottom of the fixture list page:

Please be advised that all fixtures are subject to change. As such, do not accept fixtures, dates and times as absolutely confirmed.
Always check for details confirmed by the Club on the main site and within ticket pages.

Theres also much the same on the pages for ticket sales

Stevenage replay is on the Wednesday. Sunday/ Wednesday is hardly unfair and if we wanted to avoid that we should have won the first game

I wouldn't be surprised if its rescheduled for 27 or 28th of March...in between Chelsea away and Swansea at home.

I'm presuming that should we beat Stevenage in the replay, we'll be playing Bolton in the Cup on the 17th as well?

Either the 17 or the 18th mate...if Stoke were to beat Valencia and advance in the Europa League they would play their FA Cup tie against Liverpool on the 18th...probably won't matter as they'll go out of Europe.

In short, yes either on the 17th or 18th...not sure when this is going to be announced.

Saying the 17th here.

Might go for this instead then. Not an ideal, I would have rather seen us smash Stoke after being Foyed earlier in the season. Can't imagine Bolton in the cup is going to sell out all that quick!

What are the chances this will get re-scheduled for mid week, the following week? I am only in the country for 10 days 14th-27th and don't want to end up missing the game!

Its possible, particularly if Stoke don't advance in the EL - which is looking likely.

Depends when the FA Cup games are picked...ie the Saturday or the Sunday, if we both play on the Saturday it could be on the 20th or 21st....I have a feeling though they'll opt for the 27th or the 28th though...

I think they try to avoid scheduling 3 games in 6 days...

I appreciate the information. My friends (season ticket holders) applied for Chelsea away tickets for me and my girlfriend and if we get to play Bolton then hopefully i can grab 2 tickets for that.

I was hoping to catch all 3 games, but considering I haven't visited the lane in 2 years 2 games will do. It will be my girls first visit to the lane, cannot wait!

27th/28th will be potential FA Cup 6th round replays so more likely to be 20th/21st
