Does anyone know the reason why we abandoned having a reserve team?
Wouldn't it be beneficial in times like these that instead of having players out on loan, have them in a reserve team so we can promote them to 1st team when we're struggling with injuries?
I know the players benefit more from playing competitive football rather than "practice matches" but I just think it would help the club more to have them on hand ready to use.
Also with the likes of Falque not getting any games for Southampton, surely he'd be better off getting some games regularly rather than none.
And surely shifting these young players to several different clubs makes them feel a little unwanted at Tottenham? Playing a reserve team would be better for player/club unity?
Or maybe I'm taking complete rubbish
