Not for me, not one player is bigger than the club.
A superb player without doubt, had he played every game who knows what have happened ?
Maybe we would have won something or more than likely he would have been attracted to a bigger club ...I would opt for the latter and on that alone I am out of this discussion. :)

I dont think it will be retired. Needs careful consideration about who gets it next though. Wouldnt want to see us hand it out to the likes of Bentley or some other joker like that.

For years of service to our club, I think it should be retired. If it was a Number "9" or a Number "10", yeah that would be a more difficult number to retire. But number "26", which is a squad number... definitely. Would be no harm in it....King has saved and won points for us by himself, he's has done us very proud.... over his years of loyal service.

Retire the Number, I do agree.

Very nice idea. 26 is one of my favourite numbers just because of Ledley. Every time it pops up I mention the King, it's so sad but I even like to leave the volume on 26 just because of him!

King was our only world class player in period where we shit and surrounded by shit, the number 26 is not a significant number so I say yes

Cant believe people are saying no, we moan about Modric ect wanting to leave but when someone like king loves this club and truely has given his all (and his knee) for us we don't seem to give a toss !??!o_O

You think that if he never had his injury problems he would have stayed at the club, yeah right.

The players aformentioned above have all won over 10 trophies each for their clubs, which include multiple league titles and European cups. Arsenal didn't retire TH14 and he is a genuine legend. As someone else mentioned above, King was our only good player for a long time but that doesn't mean he should have his number retired - if it was, it would make us look like a joke club and all the bigger clubs we're trying to catch/emulate would be laughing at us.

You think ****sea are going to retire Drogba's number?!?

I just hope the club treat him with the respect he deserves. He wore the shirt with pride, never deserted us and put his body on the line....Legend.

Not sure about this. On one hand we need to make sure he is remembered for being the legend he so clearly is. Had he been born in another era he'd have the medals to go with the talent.

The best defender I've ever seen at WHL, on either side, but retiring the shirt happens so little in football. Foe at City... Any more?
