As a kid I had the FA yearbooks for 56, 57 & 58 and in one of them was a full page picture of Johnny Brooks, it wasn't a photograph it was a coloured drawing so he had a bit of a mythical status to me as a kid, I was too young to see him play but older members of my family said he was good looking man and an elegant player.
Always sad to lose one of our own.

Very sad news. I'm not old enough to remember him play but I meet him a number of times as a kid as he was a park keeper at my local park. He used to join in our kick abouts and let us on the tennis courts for free

These sort of stories are dying out with players that are sadly leaving us. RiP

I saw him play many times and was my favourite player He was very elegant with a powerful shot. I believe he had just the one cap. Very sad but as someone else has said they are leaving us in numbers recently. I read today that Cliff Jones is out in France as a guest of the Welsh FA and he is 81. RIP Johnny boy you gave me a lot of pleasure.
