He signed a 4 year contract last August. With 3 years left on it there's nothing stopping Leicester asking for whatever they want. He's clearly a £50m player in the current market with 3 years on his contract.

Good point. The Chavs are reportedly offering Mad Money for Drinkwater FFS. Unless Mahrez starts stirring it bigly and asks for a transfer he's going to be Thai'ed up there for a while longer.

Couple of weeks back I think it was Trix who said things had changed and he was no an option, but nothing more concrete than that.

What surprised me was that before then all the ITK had effectively dismissed Mahrez as a signing

Clearly you don't watch much of Leicester. Mahrez is as close to world class as there is in the PL.

The PL must not have many world class players in it then.

Always wanted Mahrez, in my opinion he is the best wide forward, dare I say game changer, we can realistically get. He offers goals/assists and that bit of unpredictability that we sometimes miss

Spot on. Not sure what's to procrastinate about Mahrez. Would change our forward play instantly. My biggest critisism at the moment is that spurs can be laborious and lack that creative spark. Some.teams can't be worn down, you need that creative cleverness a player like mahrez offers. If he is obtainable, ffs sign him up!

Might be for our purchasing policy though, which is a shame. He's a player I think would improve us and would add a different dynamic.

A few years younger is the only thing I can see. I suppose younger players can still fetch a decent price If they don't work out.

Although with mahrez, at 26? He's not exactly past it. I think he's a low risk option, having proved he can cut the mustard in the prem to a high standard.

Whilst you might be right there must be concern that most of our creativity comes from Eriksen & if he gets injured we could have a problem that a mature player like Mahrez might help fix. At 26 we could get 4 or 5 years out of him & if he can replicate his Leicester form with us he'd be a useful asset to have, even at 40M.

I agree the best we can do is probably take on his 6m due now and 3.8m in wages this season and hopefully get them to agree to pay 18 or so on a required purchase agreement next summer or have it auto trigger on some conditions.
