Mahrez is far more likely to help us win the title than Barkley. He is fit and wants a transfer. Mahrez showed yesterday for Leicester that he can wreak havoc when given space. He also is one of the best in the league at whipping in crosses from set pieces. We waste SO many corners and free kicks that adding him would likely result in an uptick on chances on goal from just dead ball situations.

I thought our set pieces were ok today. Chelsea defended very well.

I agree with everything else though. I've said since the start of the window Mahrez is exactly the type of player we need and nothing has changed my mind.

We simply don't have a player in the squad with his skill set.

Don't know why people question if he'd do the physical side of what Poch wants? He'd be an upgrade on Sissoko regardless and if he gets in the team that means he's put the work in and theoretically we'd only see the 15/16 version of him on the pitch. If not, then one of our other perfectly capable forwards will take his place. It's the competition for places we need and he currently lacks i.e safe in a shit team

Didn't we have ITK on him the summer prior to Leicester's title win? To be fair to him, Craig Shakespeare has said Mahrez has been focused and driven throughout training since requesting to leave and hasn't spat his dummy out. I'd like to think he's on our list.

I'll be surprised if he's sold for that much.
Roma were bidding around £32M. I think somewhere in the £35-40M region might get him. I can still see this happening late in the window if other targets don't happen, and I think it would be a good move for us if it did.

Agreed. He'd be a fantastic signing IMO. Would totally transform our attacking options. For example yesterday Chelsea were marking Eriksen and thereby nullifying our only source of creativity. With Mahrez we'd have someone who could dribble/ run at defenders and open up space for others.

Whoever else we sign, we really need these qualities in the squad

Yeah, i think we need him. He's 'available' which isn't necessarily the case with some other wide forward targets. What was clear yesterday was we literally only had Eriksen whoe could pick out a creative forward pass. Alli runs on to things, Son can dribble and run on to things, Kane the same. But it's only Eriksen who seems to have that vision for us.

Bringing in someone like Mahrez would make us less predictable. He might not be the flat out pace so many of us are after, but he has a bit of everything in terms of dribbling and vision.

Ive thought hed be a great signing for us as we need someone like him in the team. But its not happening. We're getting foyth, gazzaniga, barkley and a slight possibility at sessegnon in this shambles window

This to me seems like a deadline day deal, a bit like Sissoko last summer. I wouldn't be against this at all, he would help remove our ever growing reliance on Eriksen for creativity and would more than help with breaking down teams that enjoy sitting back.
