If he wants to go, he has got to go, lets take a leaf out of Villas book though and not bend over for the top 4, we must play hard ball
Alonso and 6 mill, everyone knows they re skint lets make them blow most of their budget on him

Why do players get so brainwashed about champions league football? Its so overrated. If he stayed with us for the remainder of his career and continued his goalscoring record he would go down as a spurs legend - surely thats a bigger incentive then playing in the CL. He seems extremely settled and would be sorely missed by both us and the players. Hutton, Woodgate and fat boy reid all praised keano for helping them settle in and if he left it could really have a detremental effect to team morale. We cannot under estimate what keano brings off the field as well as on it. He is an integral part of the side and is our best player along with berbatov and king

United done it with Carrick when we were just starting to gather momentum and now liverpool are doing it with Keane. We have to make a stand. If we sell Keane to Liverpool we can forget about ever making it into the top 4. Even if they offer stupid money like 20m+ we will not be able to gget anyone better then Keaneo

Berbatov and Keane are a partnership that is feared amongst every team in the league. I still believe they are the best combination the premier league have seen in a while

If this story is compelte crap all it requires is a statement from Keano. One statement and all this shit will stop. I wanted that with Carrick but th club and the player kept quiet and look what happened to him

Champions league football per se isn't anything special. The likes of Sparta Praga, Stjaua Bucharest etc. play in the CL, too, but no good player from Premiership would go there to play CL football. But to play CL football for a team that can win the CL is something special. I think the best football is played in the concluding part of the CL: 1/4, 1/2 finals and the final itself. Very few players would resist the lure to play for such a team if their curren team is out of the CL. The best players want to play for the best teams. There are few exceptions which confirm the rule. The only way Spurs to keep the star players for longer is to become one of the best. There isn't other way.

The Champions League is all about the biggest teams in Europe trying to one up eachother. Win the Champion League and you can convince yourself that you're the best team in Europe. Especially if you win the league aswell. Barca done it a couple of years back but they took their foot off the gas and expected to walk throught the opposition. It will be interesting to see how Man Utd respond.

I do enjoy the Champions League and i follow Milan and Barca as they're the teams i follow in Italy and Spain. However, i find the UEFA cup to have the best action. Zenit last season were an excellent side to watch, playing some exciting fast paced attacking football. It really did benefit Russia in the Euros aswell. Sevilla were also excellent for the 2 years that Juande lead them to glory. The likes of Fiorentina and PSV were also great to watch last season. That for me is what makes it so exciting. The ambitious teams that are chasing Champions League football and are adventurous like ourselves.

This year though should be the best in years, or ever. AC Milan, Benfica, Valencia, Sevilla and ourselves are all involved and it should be a great test for our young players especially. Thats why we need to keep Berbatov and Keane though. Those two have been the main driving force in Europe and our best hope of winning it. I truly believe we'll have a chance of winning the UEFA cup this season if we keep Berbatov and Keane. Especially with Gomes in goal, King and Woodgate at the back, Giovani and Modric, aswell as any additional players we sign. The likes of Bale, Lennon and Huddlestone should benefit a great deal aswell. I'm really looking forward to the UEFA cup this year.

have you not been watching spurs for the last 4/5 seasons, by far been our best player, and the likelihood of David Villa signing for spurs is very low, altho it would be fantastic

Not quite sure about that, but without the massive exaggeration I see what you're saying!

If Hutton weren't in the way, we would obviously see a transfer request in Robbie's left hand

This geezer has a thriving partnership with Berbertov at Spurs and is playing the best football of his career.

The only reason he wants him to go to liverpool is so that he gets rotated a bit more.

As for the previous post on berbatovs contribution I dont think Torres has his intelligence/positional awareness on the pitch. I've never seen a player look so dis-interested and then just set up a goal... then go back to scratching his arse.

I'd say berbatov makes him a few more goals than another centre forward would.

From this interview, after the cup final, I sense no desire to leave from Keane.

I honestly find it amazing that anyone has given this rumour any respect. It was started by the News Of The World ffs!

I believe there is something in this rumour, I usually don't, but I don't know, something about this one.

Still hoping to death that it's BS, because I wouldn't handle seeing Keane go. Robbie Keane in a Liverpool shirt - it would crush me completely. Berbatov would be easier, as that wouldn't surprise me and since he has been "leaving" ever since he arrived I would be better prepared for it.

Drama queen signs out.

Gus gets firm hold of Kop target Robbie
By Neil Silver
Tottenham striker Robbie Keane has been pinned against a wall and told: You're not joining Liverpool!
The club captain has been linked with a move to Anfield, but Spurs assistant manager Gus Poyet revealed: "My first task at pre-season last week was to pin Robbie to the wall and tell him: 'You're staying!'
"I was shocked when I heard him being linked with Liverpool - he's a very important player for us." Republic of Ireland ace Keane, who is 28 on Tuesday, grew up supporting Liverpool.
He scored 24 goals for Spurs last season and the club have put a £20million price tag on him to deter predators.
Spurs' other strikers are also wanted men.
Darren Bent has been linked with a switch to Sunderland, and Dimitar Berbatov is a target for several clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United.
