The main problem if we lose soldado is that for the first time I would genuinely be at a loss to find a plan b that's good enough.

If this was the beginning of the summer when there were fuckloads of strikers available I'd be fine with it but my gut feeling is that it's either soldado or bust.

I think we're going to regret not pushing harder for benteke (if we were in for him, if not then soldado is great).

Just my gut feeling

Last heard they need to raise EUR 14M after some player sale. Hence the payment of 15M upfront. So you can see why the negotiations becomes tougher esp with a club like Valencia that is under duress. THey are fighting for survival and need to maximise every single asset.

Maybe Levy should consider some form of partnership where we can send our young players there for Laliga exposure... Caroll, Falque, Coultrist.......:)

Lets not belittle this club..... you can see the fans and media is fully behind supporting them. Not sure if the UK media will do that for an English club.

And the government too. For far too long the Spanish clubs have gotten away without having to pay their taxes and debts.

If Atletico were an English club the auditors would have been in and stripped the club to pay off the £100m odd they owe to the taxman. What do the Spanish do? They build them a new stadium and let it slide so that they can go and win the EL. Then you have Madrid and Barca counted as charitable organisations so they don't have to pay tax. Let alone the backhanders and dodgy deals with land etc...

Well their comeupence is finally here. I don't feel sorry for them in the slightest.

oh well Marca on Valencia

http://www.marca.com/2013/07/25/futbol/equipos/valencia/1374736694.html

The new Valencia, the Amadeo Salvo, is willing to change the operating philosophy in all its aspects. Even with the salary cap. It will break up with the '9 'that comes from strange and counterproductive as it may seem.
Quality pays and Valencia are willing to take that situation. If Soldier finally leaves the club are convinced that the Spurs are going to reach 30 kilos calling Valencia need a striker 25 goals. It is negotiable. And this will require much scratching your pocket is said that you can not undertake a high-cost operation. But they will do as much as possible.
Salvo is a businessman. It staunch supporter of efforts globally and therefore relates to the players makes an assessment of overall costs (payment of signing, contract and years of relationship). Therefore, the salary cap will be deleted.
You can pay, say, 3 million on a hypothetical transfer and a token of 5 kilos in four seasons. The global operation that would leave 23 million. Join? Within 30 that would have been received by Soldier? Yes, it is a simple example.
The philosophy that brings the new leader is to globalize. That is, and as another example: Valencia can go to the transfer market and opt for a player who exceeds net cut 1.8 has fixed the Valencia in recent seasons. It is no longer taboo. Since were Villa (5.5 gross) and Silva (4.6) the club had predetermined that nobody could exceed the 3.1 million gross (ie, net 1.8 always). But now worth.
Questions and answersThis measure may be unpopular for the fan (when asked why do not you go up the tab Soldier?) Is explained. On Thursday, Valencia can not offer an upgrade to its star because it has a single euro in cash. And so it has been communicated.
But in the time that Soldier is sold and entering box 30 million, then yes there will be to pay a transfer and if necessary a tab high for that '9 '. Because quality is paid.
The Valencia was willing to raise your salary to Soldier (for example, the presence of the ram on Valencia from 2010-2017 would cost about 22.1 kilos between amortization and tab). But now you can not improve. He said and he repeated. At present it is not feasible. That effort could not be because the choke does not allow a single box joy.
One of the arguments is giving that Valencia has decided that money into cash for this operation will be spent, because there will be more outlets and has to adjust the budget.

Basically expect us to pay 30M, 20M upfront and the rest in 10 installment. THey also will use the preceedings ~ 3m for a new striker + 5m/year in a 4-year deal (total: 23m). Also they cannot offer a wage increase for Saldado.

Basicly they need to sell before they have to pay there taxes! They need around 14 million to pay the tax bill. They cant afford him a pay rise they need to sell to sort out there wage bill.
They need to sell for a big price and then get a replacement for cheaper wages. As has been said in previous ITK. They are now backtracking as they need the money ASAP!

I got that they could break their wage structure if they sell Soldado? Bring in a player for low cost but who has high wages. £3m to buy, £5m a year wages for 4 years = £23m

Why they wouldn't want low cost & low wages I don't know.

There was an update on fighting cock:

From:

We are in pole position to get Soldado and hope to be able to announce, at very least, as soon as Saturday, that an agreement is in place. If Soldado trains on Saturday the things change and we may forfeit the first refusal agreement we have in place with Valencia

to

Ok, last message was my abridged version... Here is the message...

"Spurs expect to be in a position to announce soldado agreement by Saturday at the latest. If Soldado trains on Saturday things change. There is an agreement in place to sell only to us if they find a replacement. That agreement is forfeited if he trains on Saturday"

The problem is even if they don't pay, the government wouldn't bankrupt them. They will probably find a way to even bankroll them. Like buy their stadium and lease it back for a dollar.

EU already investigating state aid in Spain. They are also investigating 5 clubs in Holland for doing just this.

Just had a look at the punishment ING got for receiving state aid from the Dutch government. They had to pay back all the money they received plus a 50% penalty. If Barcelona and Madrid are found guilty of receiving state aid (they don't pay tax as they are considered charitable organisations unlike the rest of the league + Madrid are also being investigated for the land deals with the council) that could be some serious money  Valencia are also being investigated.
