Shouldn't take it literally, we need a new striker whether Soldado stays or goes. Hence the striker wouldn't be replacing him.

Hard not to take it literally when you start the sentence with...'He's been so bad'

I really doubt a whole £13m of the fee is made up by untriggered clauses - maybe 6 at the most which would still mean we paid £20m for him.
Its what was said by ITK a while back. Then reiterated by jason burt i think

I remember reading the article - I'm just saying I really don't believe that much of the fee is made up by clauses. (Much as I'd love it to be true of course)

He said he didn't need replacing if he goes. That is why his post is so silly.

I'm not wum but I kinda agree, Soldado doesn't need replacing. We do need another forward though but I'd argue that is completely independent to the possible sale of Soldado.

Always find the positivity towards Bobby amusing when you see the hate Andros gets (before anyone starts, I don't think we should be slating any of our players). Any other club and an expensive, overseas flop would be the subject of Internet rage and the homegrown talent lauded. We really do seem back to front across the board here (see Lamela and Mason).

I so wanted it to work out for Soldado but I just don't see it happening, can'T fault his effort and hope he gets a move for everyone benefit.
Pretty poor comparison imo. In fact it illustrates the exact opposite effect.

People moan about Lamela plenty here, yet if he was English everyone would wank themselves to sleep and the plaudits would be endless about how he was the team's leading assister. As is, no one brings up that fact and he's just some over-expensive Argentinian kid who still has to prove his worth.

Mason, who I actually quite like showed one of the more up and down seasons we've seen. Off that showing he looks like a good squad player, but I hope he still develops more finally having one of his first healthy seasons in ages.

Overall it shows the non-UK product who actually gave the team quite a bit this season gets wholly underrated and the UK product gets overrated.

I just can't agree with this - IMO Mason showed waaaaaay more than Lamela last season. I like both but the balance of this forum is much more patient to Lammy than Mason. Lamela, who I do like and think will come good, had maybe 6 good games, most average and a good number poor. Mason was mostly good and average with occasional poor games but he was slated much more. Essentially though, we're basically backing up each other's points :) I suspect you think I'm wrong and Lamela showed more than Mason and me vice versa therefore, by extension, we've both been proved right.

Anyway, feel I've taken this thread off on enough of a tangent so I'll apologise and move on.

Can't say I agree and I'm a big Mason fan, mostly because the passion for the team he clearly exudes. I'm still willing to say that when he wasn't on he looked like the worst guy on the pitch and it happened a few times this year. Never did I ever feel like Lamela was the worst of our starting 11 on any given day.

On a side tangent - Mason is what I'd describe as a "Spurs boy" his passion for the club is so plainly clear every time he puts on the shirt. It makes me cringe when I read or hear people say we should keep Townsend because he's a "Spurs boy". They couldn't be anymore less alike. Mason plays for Spurs and Townsend plays for himself and just so happened to come through our academy, there's a massive difference. It's also why even when I complain about Mason I always want him to be a part of the squad, that level of passion is valuable.

I couldn't have more time for Mason. He's got to this point of his career the hard way, and I can't help but feel there's so much more to come.

People like Chris Ramsay have previously spoken about him being the most talented youth player in our ranks and he was previously a crafty number 10, so I think a little of what he's about has got lost in him taking on the heavy duty centre mid role.

Just hope people stay patient; something Spurs fans haven't been renowned for in recent years.

i know im in minority but i want to keep him. just think there still a great striker in there and needs a few goals. Can just see him being sold and banging in a hatful of goals for someone else.

Is it Soldado in the home kit in the background behind Kyle on this? About 35 secs in.

It's either an 8 or 9 on the shorts, so unless someone's taken #8 from the departed Pauli, or Kane's taken #9 from Bobby, im confused.

Good catch. To me it looks like Harry Kane and the number 9.

Mason was there too, so I guess the most logical thought is..

Mason has taken the vacant #8
Kane has taken Bobby's #9

I would have thought Kane would be superstitious and kept the #18 like King's #26

EDIT: Unless it's not a number and just a blurry cock
