Palacios was half the player afterwards (understandably). Adeboayor was hardly been a consistent performer since and has had is off field problems (with Mancini & AVB) but I still think he has done really well considering and think that maybe it has put a few things in perspective for him. Defoe has dealt with several tragedies extremely well (his father also died in the last couple of years).I wasn't saying it doesn't have an effect (having had a girlfriend lose a baby way back in 1971 and two sisters suffer miscarriages I feel I'm reasonably well qualified to comment); I was questioning whether it had a greater effect than Palacios' having his brother kidnapped and murdered by terrorists/bandits, or Ade's team bus being ambushed. Defoe had one sibling murdered and another die in a ridiculous, needless accident.
The idea that Soldado's wife's miscarriage was a major factor in his failure to deliver the goods is pretty insulting to him as a professional.
That being said, Soldado has to deal with his whilst also dealing with the stress of living in a new country for the first time that speaks a different language and adapting to a new league with a new team, surround by people you don't know in an unusual city.
