I wasn't saying it doesn't have an effect (having had a girlfriend lose a baby way back in 1971 and two sisters suffer miscarriages I feel I'm reasonably well qualified to comment); I was questioning whether it had a greater effect than Palacios' having his brother kidnapped and murdered by terrorists/bandits, or Ade's team bus being ambushed. Defoe had one sibling murdered and another die in a ridiculous, needless accident.

The idea that Soldado's wife's miscarriage was a major factor in his failure to deliver the goods is pretty insulting to him as a professional.

Palacios was half the player afterwards (understandably). Adeboayor was hardly been a consistent performer since and has had is off field problems (with Mancini & AVB) but I still think he has done really well considering and think that maybe it has put a few things in perspective for him. Defoe has dealt with several tragedies extremely well (his father also died in the last couple of years).

That being said, Soldado has to deal with his whilst also dealing with the stress of living in a new country for the first time that speaks a different language and adapting to a new league with a new team, surround by people you don't know in an unusual city.

Bobby is a predator in the box. A rare striker of the type from another era e.g.Greaves, Owen, Rush etc. Get the team playing the right way and supplying him and he could be extremely dangerous. All depends on how the team will be set up by Poch.

I hope he doesnt change the way he set up the Saints because the guys we are being connected with - Davies, Cambiasso - are as slow as I've ever seen on a football field.

Soldado seems to be settling well with other players this season. On Twitter & Instagram, there have been quite a few pictures put up of him and usually Lamela and/or Sandro and now he appears to having banter with Sandro too. I really think he will have an excellent season as he seems much more relaxed and happy.
