If he is coming then I am SO pleased.

Pavlyuchenko: "I can confirm I'm joining Spurs. Right now I'm getting my visa and as soon as it is ready I will fly to England to sign a contract."

How much did he cost?

P.S. I have a copy of your Oktoberfest photo/avatar and it's spectacular -- Prost, Prost Comarade

Spartak haven't said how much yet. All they've said so far is that there is a concrete sum which Tottenham have proposed and that they have agreed the amount.

Oktoberfest is spectacular. No one knows how to throw festivals like Bavarians.

Dont get excited just yet, he could turn out to be a major dissapointment. He could be a hit, who knows...

But if we expect too much from him, then im sure many will be dissapointed...

When berba arrived, no-one really knew what kind of player he would be, or how good he might be, thats why we were all shocked to be graced by such a class player when he did showcase his skills.

If the expectancy on roman is one in which u expect him to replicate form similar to that of berbatov, then im sorry, but your all going to be very dissapointed. Everyone is their own player, just wait and see what you make of him...

Does anyone know just how good he is, on the basis of watching more than a few matches? Pav vs Adebayor? Pav vs Drogba? Pav vs Torres, Crouch, Santa Cruz ?

If someone could just say that he's definitely better than Crouch and at least on a level with Santa Cruz, then I'd be happier. If not, isn't it a panic buy?

its hard to say how good he can be at the moment as it is improssible to tell. the only fact we have now is that he is the top scorer in the russia for the past 2 seasons and has a good personality. Am told that he is also a leader in his team.

there is no comparison as any player doing well elsewhere may come and do really badly and vice versa. Also it depends what he can add to the team and im very optimistic that this chap is exactly what we need. It looks like he will sign for us tmr and probably will play against chelsea, only then can we judge him

8/26/2008 9:32 PM Spurs Snare £12m Pavlyuchenko - Report

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly wrapped up the signing of Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow...

Pavlyuchenko shocked Europe yesterday when, only days after intimating his desire to stay in Russia, he announced that he would be joining Spurs.

And The Sun has backed up the 26-year-old's declaration by claiming that the Lilywhites have in fact agreed a £12million deal with Spartak.

The Mostovskoy-born striker is almost certainly a direct replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who now appears destined to complete his dream switch to Manchester United after falling out with his team-mates and manager Juande Ramos.

The ex-Rotor Volgograd player will tussle with Darren Bent for a spot in the starting XI at White Hart Lane, as Ramos seems to prefer using a lone target-man supported by the likes of Giovani dos Santos and Luka Modric.

The Londoners had been keen on Pavlyuchenko's international team-mate, Andrei Arshavin, but they dropped their interest after Zenit St. Petersburg jacked up their asking price.

Pavlyuchenko will arrive in the English capital today to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

^^ditto

sadly youtube can make anyone look really good (as evidenced by the rasiak vid!)

even on that his goals afford him a lot of space and there are a lot of tap ins.

it isn't berba's goals alone we'll miss but his incredible link up play and his incisive runs and passes.

Part of me thinks we're going to pull out all our best signings just before the deadline & part of me fears we're going to balls it up & not sign anyone.

This week could see us sign:

Arshavin
Pavulychenko
Huntelaar
Veloso
Falcao
+ another

We've gone from needing a midfield & keepers when JR took over to needing Defenders (include a DM or 2 with that) & strikers. So much work to be done
