I want the fat alcoholic druggie!! Wait we are talking about Merson aren't we???
Seriously, even if only fora season I'd love to see them at the lane! In the flesh seeing him play week after week! Would be awesome! Not long term definately. All the sceptics are right to be sceptical but when the guy is on form he is unreal. When he is off form he still makes most of our lot look pants!
COYS tomorrow!!

People have to start waking up and realising that we are a very attractive team to join these days.

We don't have any financial problems, like the Valencia's of this world.

We have one of the best managers in the world.

We have some extremely talented players in our team - Keane, Woodgate, Hutton, Berbatov (at least for now), Modric etc...

We have qualified for Europe for the 3rd season in a row, having just won a domestic cup by beating Chel$ki in the final.

We have ambition, which we are showing by spending on players.

We have managed to sign some quality players, despite some serious competition over the last season or two:

Bale
Hutton
Modric
Bent

All four of these players would make any teams squad and most teams starting line-up.

Will we get Ronaldinho - probably not, but in the end it will probably come down to an offer coming in from someone like Chel$ki who are willing to pay him the £140K a week he wants.

We need to keep optimistic and keep trying to sign quality players. Another two or three world class players and we could be a serious team to be reckoned with next season.

Applaud the sentiments of the post and a lot of truth in what you're driving at. Sadly though CL participation outweighs so much of the other stuff we offer for the top players.

I also think you mistake proven class for potential in Bale and Bent - but that's a subject for another thread....

I dont want us to sign Ronaldinho, I honestly think it would be a backward step.

He'd be the 'big star' and I think we'd rely to heavily on him.

PLUS he's either an alcoholic or a drug addict. And he's fat.

It wouldn't be a backward step for the following reasons:

He is the most skillful player on the planet
The manager would get him in shape
His record is still incredible
The boost in merchandising and enchancement of the Spurs brand would quite comfortably pay for him to come to us.

I sure can imagine Ronaldinho getting pumped up for 3rd Round Carling Cup match away against S****horpe. Yes...

Neither of them will come, they'd be fucking idiots if they did, just like Berbatov will be an idiot if he stays.

He has often turned out against smaller, shitter clubs in spain though. It's the same in every country.

Sorry to mention this but wasnt it that Eto'o and Ronnie had some major fall out in Barca to a point both had to make statements to the press. I would love it if both joined us but I think these two dont get along and surely Ramos would know of this.

It's just the belief that Spain is so much more glamorous and classy that it doesn't matter.

Which is bullshit.

Ok, I don't believe he is the most skillful player on the planet right now. He hasn't played 1st team football for months, was poor early this season when he did play, and has some SERIOUS personal problems.

His record is great, he was an awesome player, but I just think hes past his best. I dont want us to be LA Galaxy.

I'm not worried about his cost, I think we could afford it, but at the same time, I don't feel commercial success if ever a good reason to sign a footballer.

thing is, Ronaldinho is 28, if he was the wrong side of 30 I'd probably agree, but unless he has a really serious injury condition (King) can a player of his quality seriously be 'past it'? or is it a case of he needs a change of scene, a strict diet/lifestyle and a new challenge?

If it's the latter Tottenham could be the right place for him. But I still stand by the notion that the morning I wake up to a pig flying past my window is the day Ronaldinho signs for us... shame though, for us and for him.

Apart from Bent (and that was someone who actually knew him or his family), when has an ITK ever been correct about an ongoing transfer dealing?

Genuine question, because i can't remember it happening. No-one guessed Woody, Modric or Hutton (before the on/off saga) and i always get the feeling Spurs try their best to do these deals on the quiet.

So can anyone reassure me that any ITK has been correct about transfer dealings before the papers have got hold of them. For the record, i'd fucking love it if he came, but it's not gonna happen is it. I've never wanted to be proved wrong so much.

for any reason? yes they are great players, but not every great player can go to the great big clubs, there isnt enough room, and if a team like us is improving with a manager who is well known by these players and aroudn europe, along with some of the players we have, there is afew thigns that could attract big players to us!

but i cant see Ronaldinho coming after sayign all that, he will want too much money and/or i can see a bigger club coming in for him... but there is some hope of big players coming to us, its not as bad as you make it out to be
Dinho is not just a great player. Despite a rather rollercoaster season, he is still THE best footballer on the planet.

THE best footballers on the planet NEVER go to mid-table clubs, unless their clubs of sentimental value to the player. For example, if Dinho had hailed from Spurs, went to Barca and then came back.

No chance in hell of landing him. Nor is there any chance of landing Villa or Eto'o.

These players aren't Modrics's. They're proven top-flight league magicians. Some of THE proven best footballing talents in their respective positions.

We have a 0 chance of signing any of them.

ALTHOUGH, i love the banter and speculation of the possibilites.. And would never condemn the transfer market hype, as I love it so much - it's what it's all about! But seriously, I honestly doubt they'd go to a below top 4 club in any league.

I think a lot of ITK's do genuinely have contacts within the club or connected to it, but a lot of the time they get fed bullshit on purpose, be it as a smokescreen or other reasons.

dont get me wrong, i was just saying great as in more of a general term meaning we could attract great players, i do think he hasnt been as good as he had been in seasons befor, so bigger clubs still may not want to go for him incase its a steady slope down for him from now on

Ronaldo is better, so he isnt the best player in the world just now anyway
