Main worry here is there have been so many ITK reports over the last year or so that Barkley was Poch's number 1 target. Given we'd be getting him for less than half of his market value, it's absolutely baffling that we'd allow a direct rival whom the player had already rejected, with a manager who's obviously not going to be there for very long, to get him ahead of us.

His injury was worse than first feared? can't have another Dembele who can barely play a game a week.

If it didn't work out, we could've still sold him to WBA/Stoke/Sunderland for a profit

It’s bound to be a case of Barkley saying he’s fine, medics saying he’s not and needs to take it easy. This isn’t an issue for Chelsea (remember Dembele Ba) whereas for us we’d be forking out £10-15m on someone who’s at a high risk of breaking down.
