I would say that in the past they have signed players they did not want or need they were signed from under our nose just as they were about to commit to us and its wright phillips and parker that come to mind and there are others ;incidently both hardly played for chelsea reinforcing the idea that they were signed just to make things hard for us.
then you have players like hazard and willian that would have signed but chelsea pushed in with their big fat wallet to sign these players for themselves.all these actions goes to prove that abramovitch has a fixation that is to try to stop us being a success.

Look at their squad (assuming Baker goes on loan) beyond starters Hazard, Pedro, Kante and Bakayoko they have Fabregas and Willian. That's it for first team midfielders. They need and will sign at least two midfielders before end of month.
I don't want Barkley, but if he is as good and with as much potential as people say then surely Chelsea, a squad in need of signings, would be all over him.

Paul Clement has apparently said that Sigurdsson's move to Everton is imminent and hinted at a cash plus player deal - sounds like it could be very close. I wonder if this development has helped us steer closer to signing Barkley. Everton may be prepared to accept an offer?

If they don't get another midfielder in it wouldn't surprise me if it came down to the last week only for them to outbid and offer more wages than us.
