Does anyone else feel sort of apathetic toward this transfer?

He's a pretty good player, but I just don't see what new dimension he would bring to our team.

I'd much prefer to sign a pacey winger than Barkley tbh
We need both. Today we wasted a few half chances but Eriksen had an off day and having someone of Barkleys calibre to bring off the bench rather than sissoko might have meant a couple more better chances being created . I wish we had gone for Salah but there's plenty of fish in the sea and I think Aurier will provide the pace we need down the flanks.

Aurier alone won't be enough

Really could do with this signing. That way we would be bringing him off the bench rather than Sisokko!

Will share more later, but not yet. For now, the issue is how long will he take to be match fit? That is the determining factor. Will share more once I have the clearance. As things stand he is very determined to join us.

Cheers Hercules
I can't help think that this needs to be done now though, not waiting to January. Admittedly that's a lot of wages for a player you can't use, but it would just allow him to acclimatise to Poch's demands, so once he is fit, he'll hit the ground running.
I think someone like this is what we need. Admittedly he's not the speed merchant some crave, but I think his ability to drive at defence's with the ball is something we miss. Better than bringing Sissoko on, more end product.

Said it before I couldn't see Levy paying a player hundreds of thousands of pounds when not available or offering near Evertons price for a player who could only have 7 months on contract by time available to play. If his injury is bad enough to keep him out until Octover I don't think this will happen. Hope I'm wrong, I don't rate him but if Poch wants him and we don't get him it's very negative.

It would be ridiculously short sighted for this to be a major factor. Not doubting you, but I truly hope that's not the case!

Surely if it was a serious injury then he would've been in for an op or treatment which would've been picked up by the press or at very least an ITK. Trix suggested the injury may not be as bad as it's being made out to be. Who knows what's going on but at least we only have a few days to find out if all these deals come off.

Thanks Hercules. Really hope there's good news coming this week. :)

When he first burst on the scene he possessed an ability to run at defenders at speed and create and score goals. Albeit with a bit of a lack of football intelligence.

He was never prolific and appears to have stagnated, but he's still got it in his locker. He just needs a fresh start.

I think Mahrez is a better player and would love us to sign both, but I do still believe Barkley would give us something different.

And I'd rather have Barkley from October to May than an inferior player ( or no one ) from September to May.

I thought his injury wasn't that bad?

I presume Hercules meant that he still won't be ready to resume training straight away and hasn't had a pre season.

It's not ideal I agree, but unless we have some other realistic targets it seems like Barkley or some unknown punt like Nkoudou, N'jie etc.

I'd rather have Barkley and just take the longer term view.

I wonder if Levy is seeing if we can get him for less in the winter, if his injury prevents him from playing until almost then, we'd be saving more money as his contract runs down.

Exactly - if he's not fit till November etc it makes sense to wait another month for the sake of 15m quid.

I can definitely see this being made to wait until the next window to put more pressure on Everton and if he won't be able to play until nearly then anyway. . .
