I see one major problem with waiting for Ross to let his contact run down.

Without a fee involved, he will be in a position to demand ridiculous wages come January. Surely this will count us out? Unless we could pay him a fee instead.

If it was money he was after he would have signed for Chavs today?

After he has shown this much commitment to join us I hope we don't muck about and just do the right thing and sign him quickly in January.

You don't see much loyalty in football and I imagine Chelsea were offering the lad a massive contract.

Really hope we sign him now.

I'm wondering if he was half way through the medical and thought he'd fail, so pulled out? Could be ridiculous, but there must be a better reason than changed his mind and decided to have a think for a few months.

I'd love it if his agent got a call off Levy, and he just decided to drop what he was doing and head to Spurs instead. If that's the case, I hope Levy's on Moonpig creating a 'fuck you' card with Willian's face on it to send to Roman.

Far more likely that he just wanted to wait for us. It's fairly clear that he's desperate to play for Poch so decided it wasn't worth taking the money at Chelsea to sit on the bench.

In all honesty Everton deserve this, all the cocking about with the 50m price tag and this and that, if they had just gone ok we'll take what we can and move on, they wouldn't be in this situation and fair play to Barkley!

Respect for the lad, even if he doesn't end up signing or us he has made the right decision to tell chelsea to foff. If the Drinkwater deal falls through Chelsea are a bit buggered. Which is always good. Nice to know young English players are staying well clear of Chelsea, they destroy careers.

Totally agree. I've been saying all window that Everton are just shooting themselves in the foot. The whole window they've been acting like Billy Big Bollocks and holding out for a massive payday as if they somehow were in the driving seat when in actual fact they had the weakest negotiating position out of everyone involved. We weren't desperate to sign Barkley now as he's only a squad player, especially now that he's injured until January anyway, whereas Everton stand to lose everything if they don't sell him this window. They've totally and utterly fucked themselves over trying to play clever with Levy when they didn't have a leg to stand on.

We have made Barkley look a right prick, why did we not get a deal done before he went for his chav medical. We have no guarantees that we will be able to sign him in January, other clubs will be in the mix for his signature by then.

except for the fact that he chose to make his decision not to go to Chelsea. Not sure how we made him do anything. He is an adult and he has an agent.

I really wanted him today, but if he's injured for a few months then I guess waiting until Jan won't be too bad.

If he really did turn down Chelsea because he wants us, then I kind of feel like we owe it to him to make sure we get him in Jan (provided Everton stop being dicks).

Gee I love how we Willian'd Chelsea today. You can say what you want about the rest of the window but I'm childish enough to rejoice at that happening!

Not quite sure you can say we Willian'd them just yet. Who knows what'll happen in Jan or the summer.

Like who though? None of the other top 6 want or need him, it's arguably debatable whether us or Chelsea need him either to be brutally honest. He wants to play for Poch and showed it today. If he just wanted to chase the money he would've signed for Chelsea today.

No. Barkley has clearly maintained all along he wanted us. Everton knew this. They refused to play ball and lower their ridiculous asking price. Then they lowered it to 35m for Chelsea and Barkley initially accepted it because we werent going back in for him. Then we did. The real fuck up here is Everton. They cost themselves big time by having that absurd £50m asking price. There was no way Levy would ever pay that and Barkley only wanted us. Instead of selling him earlier for £25m, they'll be selling him in January for about 10m. Cost themselves about £15m. They would have won out had we not gone back in for him.

I feel sorry for him. He will absolutely detest Daniel Levy by mid January.

Why? Levy hasn't done anything to him. He wants to come to us, Levy has said we can't now but we will in January. Not sure what he's supposed to be pissed off at Levy about?

Everton forum got the pitchforks out the moment his Chelsea deal fell through. Saying he has cost them 35mill, if he said he only wants Spurs they should have just accepted our offer.

Just hope we reward him for his desire to join us by putting a reasonable bid in for him on the 1st January. Get him out of Merseyside as soon as possible.

If we Willian'd them, he'd be holding up a Spurs shirt. Let's not be small time and make out like this is equal, as it's not

If he signs for Utd, Chelsea or Arse in January, you'll just look stupid
